Dragapult Vmax deck is very good indeed

    Posted: 09 May 2020 01:30 AM PDT

After watching Omnipokes video on a Dragapult Vmax deck, I couldn't resist building it, despite it being almost stupidly expensive. But it was a blast and very very strong.

I played 13 matches and won 12. The one loss came to a standard pikarom deck where I whiffed energies for the first two rounds - that was too much to overcome. Otherwise I actually think Dragapult Vmax is pretty heavily favoured against Pikarom.

The Caveat I have is that I have been playing quite a bit of donk recently, so my ELO isn't very high and I wasn't facing a ton of tier 1 decks. Only faced one ADP-Z deck, which I won.

Is Dragapult VMax the best deck in the format? I don't know, but it is definitely in the conversation. Will need to play more against ADP-Z to see which of those two are stronger at the moment.

But I'll tell you what. It is kind of nice to never get OHKO'd and wrecking your opponents bench with spread damage has always been good fun and it is actually quite a challenge to math it all out.

I played this deck that I just outright copied from Omnipoke:

    Some notes:

Joe from Omnipoke who build this says himself that this is sort of experimental.

From the games I have played so far I'll say that Scoop Up Net is so nice in this deck. You have Jirachi, Mewtwo and Giratina as targets for it and with 4 nets, 3 switches and 2 boards, your Jirachi's are almost never gonna be stuck in the active.

Horror energy is busted. 4 of is a no-brainer.

Mallow & Lana is surprisingly strong here. Decks already need to 2 shot you and Mallow & Lana will often force them to three-shot you. In reality most opponents just quit after you play Mallow & Lana. I would consider going to two copies of that.

I have not yet used Bede, but I can still see it being a pretty good 1-of.

The shrines are great for the time being. As the meta shifts to V's they should be replaced.

I was thinking about a couple of spell tags, but then again. You aren't really getting knocked out very much, so maybe not...

Galarian Zigzagoon might be an option since it requieres less work than Giratina.

Mewtwo + Oranguru + Scoop Up Net is awesome here and I would say better than Eldegoss V in this deck given your multiple ways of finding Mewtwo and the fact that Scoop Up Net lets you use Mewtwo multiple times.

Only one Dedenne-GX is a bit scary. Going to 2 is probably correct.

Have everything I need to escape theme decks... apart from any Dedenne-GX

    Posted: 09 May 2020 06:44 AM PDT

I really want to play standard with some decks I grinded the f*ck out of theme deck tournaments for, but I don't have any dedennes and they are so essential in the rotation today. Any alternatives? Thanks

Box worth of rebel clash codes

    Posted: 08 May 2020 10:09 PM PDT

EDIT: Codes have been distributed. Hope people get lucky!

Have kinda lost interest in playing the online game, have a booster box worth of rebel clash codes I figured others would be more excited about. Seems people like it when the codes aren't just uploaded straight to the post so I have them separated into 9 batches of 4 codes each in hidden imgur links. First nine comments that include your favorite Pokémon type will receive a message from me with a link.

I am currently going for an ultra prism master set and I want to trade my rebel clash packs for ultra prism packs. How many packs do you think 1 ultra prism is worth?

    Thanks in advance

    What format after playing themed?

    Posted: 08 May 2020 11:27 PM PDT

Hey y'all. For me and my wife and best friend, we're new to ptcgo, but are getting quickly bored of playing themed deck games. What would be the cheapest format to move to from here to start having a bit more fun with the game? Standard seems expensive, but maybe it's worth it? Or maybe expanded is a fine place to get to play cool decks and learn a bit more about the ins and outs of competitive play. Any and all thoughts would be greatly appreciated 🙏🏽 Hoping this becomes a cool community for us along with a fun hobby 😁

Any suggestions for improving my PikaRom/Morpeko VMAX deck?

    Posted: 08 May 2020 08:29 PM PDT

This is my 4th iteration of this deck and I've had decent success with this climbing the Standard ladder. Unfortunately, it feels like I've hit a plateau in matchmaking recently and I'm hoping to make the deck more consistent and viable.

Typically my strategy revolves around getting Morpeko VMAX or PikaRom on the field as quickly as I can, healing early-game damage with Indeedee V/Pokemon Center Lady. I try to get a Zeraora-GX out quickly as well so I can retreat for free. Just looking at the deck in this format makes me think I should add more Trainers and get rid of energy/less used Pokemon (e.g. Snorlax). Thoughts?

Jirachi Prism Star is a Meme

    Posted: 08 May 2020 03:20 PM PDT

Lately there have been several attempts by popular players to hype up this new "Turbo Zacian" deck which foregoes ADP and includes a combination of SWSH Oranguru, Detective Pikachu Mr. Mime and Jirachi Prism Star, the conceit being that you're going to toss the Jirachi onto the top of your deck with Oranguru, use the Mime to swap him with one of your prizes and then draw an extra prize for your KOs--not just once, but potentially over and over again.

I understand the combo, I'm amused by it, but surely I'm not the only one who thinks it's a silly gimmick, right? Even these Youtubers, who are sharp players, manage to fumble the combo numerous times on stream because of all its moving parts. You're relying on hitting your scoop up nets at precisely the right time, getting the Mimes and Orangurus and Jirachi into place, and more often than not you have to cede ground to your opponent in the interest of pursuing an extra prize the next turn...

All when you could be playing ADP and getting an extra prize every turn after turn 2. Have you seen the ADPZ decks out there lately, with their e-switch witchery? I can't imagine anyone opting for this "Turbo Zacian" build when ADPZ is so utterly busted and straightforward.

What do you guys think about this combo? Am I wrong? Is it actually top tier and super big-brained? As of this post, every demonstration I've seen of it has left me chuckling and underwhelmed.

Anyone try Alolan Sandslash w/ Dragapult?

    Posted: 08 May 2020 02:45 PM PDT

Slowly saving for dragapult vmax and wonder if this is enough a good enough combo to invest in? Dragapult vmax let's you put 50 anyway you like. That's a potential 600 damage follow up turn in theory. Against nuzzle that's a full board wipe, against adp that's a oranguru absol and jirachi wipe.

It’s been two days with this game and I’m already sick of Guest Players.

    Posted: 08 May 2020 06:00 PM PDT

Is it just me? I keep running into these so-called "Guest Players" with SUPER POWERFUL CARDS. I just fought one who had the creation trio tag team! I feel like it's unfair to those who actually play on an account and collect cards.

How do they even get these powerful cards?? Can someone explain?
