What is your best or worst PTCGO investments?

    Posted: 01 Jun 2021 03:41 AM PDT

What are the best or worst "investments" you made in the game? Best, like bought tropical beaches when they were actually affordable? Worst, like bought a playset of SR Fairy energy right before Fairy type got removed? Hope some of you have some good stories ;]

Questions about investing and the market.

    Posted: 01 Jun 2021 08:25 AM PDT

Hey I've been playing ptcgo for a couple of months now but I feel like I've wasted a bunch of codes building decks when prices drop etc. Right now I'm just looking for opinions, and any help is appreciated.

    1. with the recent crash of zacians would now be a good time to stack up on a lot of zacians?
    2. I have a couple of older packs like plasma freeze and dragon majesty, are they worth much?
    3. I have 2 golden metal goggles? Should I sell before the rotation or just hold them?
    4. Im looking to build a rowegg control deck for expanded, but I've heard that the price will drop rowegg, is it better to just wait?
    5. any other tips are GREATLY appreciated

Just played against this guy who had no intention of playing the game but agitating the opponent to concede. He played way too slow, his deck neither had energy nor was it control/stall, he just drew his whole deck.Such people don't play in the spirit of game.

    Code Cards

    Posted: 01 Jun 2021 03:04 AM PDT

I am getting back into the playing portion of the tcg and have 2+ years of code cards to redeem. Is there a faster way than just doing one at a time and redeeming after 10 or do I have to just set aside a whole day to do it?

Some beginner questions about trading, token usage, deck resources

    Posted: 01 Jun 2021 04:23 AM PDT

I see some places said that BST is going down in value. Should I trade them all away?

I have got enough theme decks for daily challenges now? What should token be used for? Buying theme decks that has usable cards in standard/extended?

Where do you find deck lists?

Can anyone tell me what set the holo version of Juniper Professor's Research is from?

There's a non-holo version in Shining Fates but I can't figure out where the holo version is from.

Hot take: Is it dumb of me to want Standard or even Expanded to be a game type with a little bit more creativity and originality?

    Posted: 31 May 2021 03:56 PM PDT

Obviously there's nothing wrong with using a tried-and-true winning decklist you found online, especially if it's effective, but. Idk for me personally I get sort of frustrated when I see people just porting their decks over. I'm probably just salty that I got trashed three times in a row by people using Inteleon VMAX decks... I made a deck to try to clear two daily challenges that ended up being pretty good--I was on a 9 game winning streak--and then was totally destroyed. As a somewhat newer player, it was kind of disappointing. There's ways to encourage creativity, and God knows I've been working out the kinks in my deck as I battle to see what works but when I go into standard battles at the very least, I don't expect theme decks, even if they are compatible with standard.
Can't you win just as well in Theme battles with that deck? I like to use Standard and Expanded to test out good combinations of cards and to see what other people are using, as well. Whatever. Please tell me how wrong I am in the comments if you want.
Side note: I don't think theme decks are by any means too OP or unbeatable in Standard/Expanded, for the record. I think I've gotten a lot better at both deck-building and strategy since I started playing, and (some) games definitely rely heavily on luck of the draw. I was able to win a battle against somebody using a Pikachu/Zekrom GX trainer kit yesterday simply because he ran out of cards to draw. Maybe I'm just a whiny noob.
