    Decks to grind the ladder?

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 07:07 AM PST

Anyone know of any decks that can finish matches quickly and win every so often (not win every time, just enough to make progress somewhere)?

I just want something that can get a match done and over with in about 5 minutes instead of 10 so I don't waste so much time doing the same thing.

    Expanded Medicham deck

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 02:12 AM PST

It's a deck idea I've had in mind for a while, and now that the creation trio appeared, I figured it was the good time to come back and give it a shot.

This isn't the final list, as I am still in the process of getting the last bits (guzma instead of lysandre, rescue stretcher instead of rod, lele instead of shaymin, more nest balls, Iris, etc), but the results so far have been very promising.

Simply put, use your GX early to get a permanent damage boost, then combine Strong Energy, Diancie, Regirock, Bands, Dojo and Kukui to turn Medicham into a powerhouse. You can quite easily reach 2x130 damage, which will often take down 2 basics (4 prizes) or any GX (3-4 prizes). Adding Iris will sure help push damage even further. And the best part is that your attackers are one prize... with focus sash! You can also use Shrine of Memories to use Bide while using your second attack to do some damage.

I've had some bricky starts, so some advice would be appreciated. I have tinkered a bit (trying super scoop up instead of ninja boy, for example) but I found I had trouble against energy denial + guzma (usually need 2 turns to prepare a medicham) and ability shutdown (mainly the stadium bricking regirock and shaymin, but also sometimes garbodor blocking diancie and banana master), and I don't know the game well enough to improve my deck against that.

    Thanks !

    Question to ask

So if you lose a lot in expanded, does that elo carry over to standard? I've been dying to ask this question for a while.

    Victory through Shrine of Punishment.

    Posted: 07 Nov 2019 03:11 PM PST

I just won what was possibly the closest match I've ever played.

It's usually the end when one has to end their turn with 0 cards left in their deck. However, my plan was mostly prepared... he only had 4 cards in hand and I knew what a couple of those were. Only 3 cards left in his deck. Was it his victory? Or would it be mine, with not a single card left to draw, the definitive end?

My opponent had a GX with two damage counters left to its death by the time I ended my turn. Shrine of Punishment reaps one away. Ten health left.

It's the last damage counter. Could he make a comeback during his turn? Did he have a stadium in hand, or a way to remove mine? If he could wipe the stadium during his turn, he would win.

But if he did not, and ended his turn without getting rid of it, the final damage counter would be placed and it'd be my victory. Outside of my turn. And with 0 cards left in my deck.

He threw the towel. But it was still surreal to have won that way. GG, Tcane2. And thanks for the card game anime moment.

Is Arceus & Dialga & Palkia GX the most overpowered card in the game?

    Posted: 08 Nov 2019 06:53 AM PST

I've gone up against several decks built around this card and I have no idea how to counter it other than running a wimsicot deck and hoping for good luck. No ability, so you can't use Power Plant to take him down a notch. He's got 280 HP. His GX attack is super powerful and has a laughably easily attainable energy requirement. 2 energy and your KOs take an extra card + 30 extra damage for the rest of the game? His regular attack does 150 PLUS being able to completely charge another ADPGX sitting on your bench?!

I've only been playing for a year or so, but has there ever been a card quite so over powered?

    Arcanine Deck

    Posted: 07 Nov 2019 10:02 PM PST

    Hello!

Im pretty new at the Pokemon TCG and joined just a few weeks ago. I started like everyone with the theme decks, but they get boring fast, so im trying to jury rig some decks with my meager collection and managed to put this togheter. So far, if i managed to set up my bench, evolve in round 2 and boost Arcanine with Welder the deck proved to be relatively effective.

When i meet strong meta decks im mostly steamroller though. My main issue i think is setting up my bench, a bad first hand and usually im as good as conceding, so im looking for ideas on how can i make the bench making more efficient and reliable, as well as looking for tips and suggestions from the veteran deck builders in the array of cards i put togheter.

    Here is the list:

The main reason I chose to run a Water engine over a Psychic one is because Mist Slash is so powerful. I've currently gone 5-0 against Gardeon, which would normally be one of the hardest counters to Psychic/Fire Mew3. Mist Slash goes through literally everything, which is very, very helpful against many meta decks built specifically to counter Mew3.

The more niche optional cards in the list would be Incineroar and Dragonite GX. Incineroar was mainly for an even stronger GX attack should you need it, against something like Rowlet & Alolan Exeggutor TTGX, which I lost to twice before adding. Dragonite was for the second KO of the game, being able to OHKO most TTGXs. A good follow up to Flare Blitz GX, allowing for short two turn games. Also has a consistency GX should you ever need.

Lycanroc (midnight) GX in the current meta, and how to obtain?

    Posted: 07 Nov 2019 10:25 AM PST

Hi all, I hope it's alright that I post this here since I didn't notice any general question thread.

I was wondering how well Lycanroc midnight GX fares in the current meta, and also if there is any way to purchase codes for this particular card online? I haven't been able to find anything on eBay and other sites.
