Pack/Chests Pulls, Personal Tournament Results, & All Other "Show-Off" Posts will now only be allowed on Saturdays!

    Hello all!

A few months ago we ran a poll that requested users to vote on if we should allow pack pulls, or other forms of users showing off results from tournaments, chests rewards, & more.

It was overwhelming in the favor of removing them all-together.

However, I know many of you, such as myself in the past, had nobody else to share in your excitement. That's why I have been discussing internally in pursuing an avenue in which everyone can be happy.

I think the best solution moving forward is for us to move these type of posts to Saturdays, which we'll be calling "Show-Off Saturdays" for the foreseeable future.

Saturdays from 12AM-11:59PM ET (Think New York City Time as a reference), we will allow people to post individual posts showing off their week's worth of tournament results, pack pulls, chests rewards, and more. We will not be making a mega-thread.

Posts that are created outside this allotted time will be deleted, with a warning given. Repeat offenders will result in your Reddit account becoming suspended or banned from partaking in this particular subreddit, /r/ptcgo.

If you feel like you can't wait to show-off on Saturdays, utilize the subreddit we have made for use any-day of the week: /r/ptcgopulls

For those of you who think this will leave nothing left for the subreddit. That is simply untrue. There are many other topics left for discussions such as:

    • Deck Advice

    • Personal Thoughts on the game (Keep it clean/constructive)

    • Questions not answered in Sidebar

    • Meta Discussion

    • Current Pricing Analysis

    • Recent IRL Tournament Discussions

    • Trading Post will still be active weekly

    • Giveaways

    • Technical Help

    • PSAs on Bugs/Glitches

    • Official PTCGO Developer updates

I hope with these adjustments, people who are for, and against show-off posts, can agree that this is the best likely path to appeasing everyone.

    Thank You!

Difference between Standard and Japanese Format

    Posted: 03 Dec 2019 03:55 AM PST

I'm trying to understand the difference between the formats that we have vs the one in Japan. I've seen certain cards available to Japan (such as double colorless energy), but is not allowed in our format.

Where can I read about the differences, and why is this such a case? TIA!

are we ever going to get a "ranked" mode like in magic arena

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 04:46 PM PST

I know we have tournaments, but that's not the same as having an actual ranked mode that you can see where you'd rank among everyone

"Random Standard Booster" does not include Cosmic Eclipse?

    Posted: 03 Dec 2019 01:41 AM PST

I needed packs for trading so I did a bunch of tournaments, but I haven't received a single CEC pack out of the 40 or so I earned.

Is this a bug? Really bad luck? Or just a terrible design choice?

Had I known I'd have spent more time doing tournaments for CEC only packs, those were solid value but here I don't even get 2 CEC packs worth of value for 1st place :<

New to the game, deck building question

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 06:15 PM PST

Hi! I'm new-ish (about a month) into playing and I want to start building my own deck because I've built up some packs online now, as well as bought some decks and used the online codes to get them for ptcgo. I'm confused though- how do you unlock cards so that you own them/can use them in decks? If I go to put the card in a deck or view it in my collection, it has a lock and a number next to it. These are all cards I've bought through the online version of the game so how do I unlock them to use them as I please? Thanks!

Were the rewards given from daily challenges changed to unlocked/tradeable? Yesterday I checked for my rewarded Celestial storm pack but as I didn’t saw the I thought it bugged out. Just now I received another pack(UNM) and it’s not locked

I just started playing, what are some helpful tips?

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 04:05 PM PST

Hey guys I just found out about this game the other day. I loved the Pokemon tcg game on gameboy and was waiting for them to make one. I saw it couldn't be downloaded on my android phone but thank god for sideloading! The game works amazing. I finished the tutorials and did the daily challenge so I'm sitting around 300 coins. Should I buy a booster pack or wait until 500 for a deck? Also I was having trouble beating the first trainer since his snorlax and lickitung would run right though me, luckily in a rematch he couldn't get them out on the field fast enough and I ended up beating him with the water deck. Should I continue using the water deck for the rest of the challenges? What else do you guys suggest I do? I tried playing versus with the psychic deck you get but I got owned badly by someone with a really good deck, is there not any match making? Thank you for your help
