Semi-new to ptcgo, looking to buy cards

    Posted: 28 Jan 2020 07:09 PM PST

I've been playing for a month or two now , and I've played a few different decks but I'm currently struggling in standard tournaments (a world of hurt) and now that I got to the third grouping of ladder matches. My deck is mainly a keldeo and 2 adp with drampa and blastoise&piplup. I have a fair number of supporter cards (thanks rabidragon) but I'm struggling to make really synergized decks.

From sites online that sell card codes what packs would you recommend buying for the most band for my buck to form a good deck in standard.

Any other advice is appreciated too, thanks for reading :)

Cards locked in hand, unable to play anything

    Posted: 28 Jan 2020 03:08 PM PST

    Proof here:
    https://imgur.com/a/ZdriR9l?

This is unfortunately a semi-common glitch. I'm playing on desktop, definitely not an internet connection issue. I played a tag call and deck search never came up, and I couldn't complete my deck search without...searching my deck? It's happened before with switch cards too, the card will play and just sit there, and I'll time out for never picking a Pokemon to promote.

This happens far too often, anyone else come across an issue like this? If there's a way around that doesn't involve never playing tag calls and switches, I'd love to hear it.

Sent the issue in to Pokemon support. I know the rules say limit posts about glitches, so I won't post about this again. Have a pack on me if you read this far: 7Y Tango -99pfour -se ven TZ- N MikeMike

New Player: How do you beat the Trainer Challenges?

    Posted: 28 Jan 2020 11:32 PM PST

So I've been reading up and I feel like the rules have changed. From what I read, it sounded like all you had to do was keep beating the CPU opponents and you'd earn the free packs. But in my experience now, that hasn't been teh case.

I've needed to beat each CPU with a different theme deck in order to gain a star. Am I wrong?

Another strategy-breaking bug? Or did I miss something.

    Posted: 28 Jan 2020 08:54 PM PST

I was playing a donk deck cos I needed the fast wins/losses. I used Pluspower for my Pheromosa (see game log below)

During this turn, your Pokémon's attacks do 10 more damage to the Active Pokémon (before applying Weakness and Resistance).

However, my Pheromosa only did 50 with Muscle Band. There's no text in Pluspower that states the effect only applies to MY Active pokemon, so this should have applied to my Pheromosa even when I retreated my Tapu Lele.

    Or did I miss something?

    OPTIONAL:

    Game Log Output Begins Here:

    1. Hounddoomhound flipped 1 coin(s), resulting in 1 heads and 0 tails, for Beginning of Game. 2. It is now MY's turn (Turn #1). 3. Hounddoomhound drew a card. 4. MY drew Grass Energy. 5. Can someone explain to me the utility of custom catchers?

    Posted: 28 Jan 2020 10:41 PM PST

I'm new to the game, and I see custom catchers are really sought after in trades. Can anyone clue me in to why they're so wanted?

    Propogation+trade

    Posted: 28 Jan 2020 08:30 AM PST

I've run into this combo a few times now and seems to be one of the few combinations of cards that gives me trouble.

It revolves around having 3-4 zoroark gx in play and an exeggcute in the hand. Utilizing the trade ability of Zoroark gx (discard 1 card and draw 2) the player will discard exeggcute draw cards and then immediately use exeggcutes propagation ability which allows it to be put from the discard pile to the hand. The process is then repeated every turn allowing the player to draw up to 8 free cards every turn without discarding any cards.

This deck typically runs 3-4 sky field so getting rid of the trade ability by using a stadium card is pretty ineffective since it will be replaced shortly.

Hi, I'm just coming back to the game after about 2 years and I'm trying to make a new deck. I don't have many good trades I don't think but everything I have aside from what's in the new deck is up for trade. Send offers. I would greatly appreciate your help. Thank you.

    Few questions from newb

    Posted: 27 Jan 2020 02:34 PM PST

Hello there, I have a few questions about game and in game stuff:

    1) Is there a wiki, site or something else that would let me check what stuff i get in game from code from boxes (like from Hidden Fates Ultra Premium Box)

    2) As I can see there will be new expansion in ptcgo soon, how to prepair account for this - just farm coins and tickets?

    3) Where can I find top meta decks to net deck, is there a site (or discord) where people post their deck? (like a newb I'am ;))

What will be the value of cards (after they settle?) I am particularly interested in pikarom, zacian, adp, lucmetal, and the new trainers like professors, marnie, quick ball, oranguru, and metal patch.

    Damage spread deck (need rating/tips)

    Posted: 27 Jan 2020 12:18 PM PST

Similar to a damage spread deck, it consists of abilities like "blow-away bomb" and etc to play out some poison-like damage. Most of the Pokémon only need 1 energy to attack or none if you have your dimension valley out. Here is the deck: (Warning this is long)

Pokémon: 26 4 Zubat (XY phantom forces) 4 Golbat, Ability: Sneaky Bite - when you play to evolve, do 2 damage counters to an opponent's Pokémon. (XY PF) Has free retreat cost. 4 Crobat, Ability: Uprise Bite - when you play to evolve, do 3 damage counters to an opponent's Pokémon. (XY PF) Has free retreat cost. 4 Koffing, Ability: Blow-away Bomb - when discarded with the effect of Roxie, you may put 1 damage counter on all of your opponent's Pokémon. (Sun&Moon Cosmic Eclipse) 2 Wheezing, Ability: Blow-Away bomb. (S&M CE) 1 Wheezing, Ability: Detention Gas: If active Pokémon, do 1 damage counter between turn to opponent's basic Pokémon. (Unbroken Bonds. 2 Shuppet (doesn't matter) 2 Banette GX, Ability: Shady Move - if active Pokémon, only once per turn move 1 damage counter from one Pokémon to another. (S&M Celestial Storm) 2 Gengar EX (XY PF) 1 Mimikyu (S&M CE) (add another one if you want a bigger game play with Banette combo)

Energy: 8 8 psychic energy(Try not to discard these cards)

Trainer: 26 4 Spell Tag* 4 Roxie 2 Misty's Favor 2 Pokémon Fan Club 1 Steven 1 Rosa 4 Hau (can also switch 2 for Cynthia) 4 Pokémon Communication 2 Ultra Balls 2 Dimension Valley [Major Keystone for game, add more if possible (unlike me, who cannot)] - Psychics Pokémon attacks cost 1 normal energy less.

Analysis: 1) The Roxie w/ Koffing and Wheezing allows for damage and card accumulation. 2) Dimension Valley a. The following Pokémon contain or has only 1 attack that requires 1 normal energy attack. They get effected by Dimension Valley to be able to attack for free. I. Gengar: Night Attack - put 3 damage counters on opponent's Pokémon any way you like. II. Zubat, Golbat, Crobat: Skill Dive - does 10 (for Zubat) or 30 (for Crobat) damage on one of your opponent's Pokémon. Swoop across (only Golbat) - does 10 damage to each of you opponent's Pokemon III. Mimikyu: Impersonation: (NEVER USE ON ROXIE CARD) discard a supporter card from hand and use it's effect as the effect of this attack. 3) Misty's Favor allows you to pull 3 supporter cards. Hopefully Roxie and Pokémon Fan Club and whatever else. This works well for #1 for the damage spread. Can also use for #4, the Banette combo. 4) Banette wombo combo: Banette's shadow chant attack for 1 psychic energy increases in damage the more supporter cards in your discard pile. Misty's Favor allows you to get a lot of supporter cards which can then be used either by Mimikyu's Impersonation or discarded by ultra balls. Banette does a lot of damage and can sent back some damage counters turn by turn with its ability. *Attach the Spell tags onto your active Pokémon and add some more damage lol.

Errors/Flaws: -Not having your stadium in play can suck as you may not be able to attack. Luckily you don't need very much energy in the first place and the damage is already there. -Tag Team Pokémon are very tanky and will take so much damage (unfortunately). Banette is basically your only option. Start with other Pokémon like Crowbat to initiate some leverage with the stacked damage counters.

Conclusion: The control and spread of damage counters stacks up and can take out even Tag Team or GX Pokémon (It's very hard to do so without the Banette attacks though). The free attacks is great for allowing you to focus on increasing your Banette's attack .Free retreats from Golbat and Crobat also allow you to have great "map" control when needed to switch into Banette. While it looks like Banette is your queen piece to winning, Crowbat, Mimikyu, and Gengar do great damage over time too. (Don't forget about poor old discarded Koffing)

In respect to the poison-like damage spread gameplay and current real-world Coronavirus (my prayers), I have entitled this deck Coronavirus.

Again sorry for the length, enjoy the reading skills improvement.

Problems with the game on Ipad Mini

    Posted: 27 Jan 2020 11:47 AM PST

    Hey guys,

on my Ipad mini 5 i often have the problem that I can't use the touchpad to move cards or even press buttons anymore.

This lasts for appr. 20 seconds and then it works again.

It seems that when I touch the ipad it registers my finger in the wrong location.. anybody else had this problem and knows a fix? I uninstalled the app, but the problem remains.

I only have this problem in this game.

    Thanks!

    New Digital PTCG?

    Posted: 27 Jan 2020 10:52 AM PST

Since The Pokemon Company hired someone from the Magic Arena team, I hope they are developing a replacement for Pokemon TCGO. Here is my wishlist for the title! A big change I would want to see is structuring the competitive scene more like Magic, where there are both tabletop and eSport tournaments.

    1. Have the game be on Steam
    2. Have the game on Switch
    3. Include a wide variety of music, you could potentially even partner with Monstercat
    4. Transition Worlds from tabletop to eSport (Could use Switches at every table)
    5. Introduce in-depth rankings and tournaments to the eSport
    6. Worlds is attended by a mix of tabletop and eSport tournament point winners
    7. Increase cash prizes
    8. Customize the World's winners cards (They already have three tiers of trophy denoting what place you got, but they should also show division. If they had your actual name on it that would be amazing. I'm sure it's not that hard to print the winner's card as soon as they win.)
    9. Maintain the 1:1 physical booster pack - digital booster pack

Then again, if it's not going to be a new PTCGO; just get Wizards of the Coast to make it. (With the same wishlist)

Umbreon e darkrai price will increase, i think

    Posted: 27 Jan 2020 04:49 PM PST

Sup. Im new in the PTCGO, but i heard about a new rule that a first to go player cant use support cards, right? So, if i'm second and GX with my darkrai e umbreon, my opponent will be TWO first turns without using the suport cards. So, if u mawile GX and then Jessie and james youill probably make them discard the support cards they have on hand. Pottentially making my opponent cant do supportera for THREE turns.

What you guys think about it?
