I love how the game feels now. Sleeker, cooler, the animations are snappier, smoother and overall it looks/feels much better!!!

Now can we get an upgrade on our avatars? That's it, I'm good, I'm happy. :)

    Is ptcgoguide.com still active?

    Posted: 05 Feb 2020 04:58 AM PST

I thought I read somewhere that https://www.ptcgoguide.com/ was no longer being updated. Is that correct? Is there a different source for general trading values?

    Thanks!

Who came up with this garbage rule?

    Posted: 05 Feb 2020 12:39 AM PST

I only play expanded, so i can't talk for standard, but this new rule is awful. If you are playing something that can attack on t1 such as Reshirom, Ultranecrozma, Turbo Dark, Nightmarch you WILL WIN on t1 50% of the times.

Before this new rule going first and going second were fairly balanced, some decks with powerful t1 attacks wanted to go second, meanwhile other decks wanted to go first. I still think that going first was still slightly better most of the time, but there wasn't such a huge gap that had to be fixed

Now its totally one sided, if you win the coinflip you will go second 100% of the times instead of going first 60% of the times, wow such a big improvement

On top of that, stage 1/2 are dead.

    Revert this already

    Turbo evolutions

    Posted: 05 Feb 2020 06:52 AM PST

I am toying with the idea of a dark box expanded deck. I don't really know the whole carpool so I just proceeded to browse the whole dark rooster on ptcgo and stumbled upon some interesting Turbo evolutions : zoroark turbo, yveltal turbo.

My question: can the turbo evolve from their respective GX or EX version?

Bonus : I am all listening if you have suggestions for must have expanded cards for dark decks. What are your hidden gems? Also, how to best use Danh (if to be used at all): any trick out there to pop up a pokemon from the discard pile and take advantage of the damage counters à la spiritbomb?

Bugdet Mew3 Box deck in Expanded

    Posted: 05 Feb 2020 12:33 AM PST

Been 2 1/2 week since I begun and I learn quite a lot thanks to the helpful community here. I've been using my budget deck and Relentless Assault to grind the ladder and I've been accumulating my resources.

I also played only in a few tournaments, preferring stocking on tickets, so I will be able to get Sword & Shield packs as rewards once the set drop off, to have a reliable currency to trade for the cards I need.

Anyway, I've got in those few weeks I got a few GX more, which led me to evolve my deck in a sort of Mew & Mewtwo deck:

    Pokémon - 15

    • 2 Pidgey TEU 121
    • 1 Type: Null CEC 183
    • 2 Pidgeotto TEU 123
    • 1 Silvally-GX UPR 116
    • 1 Pheromosa & Buzzwole-GX UNB 1
    • 1 Mewtwo & Mew-GX UNM 71
    • 2 Nidoran♀ TEU 54
    • 1 Sigilyph-GX LOT 98
    • 2 Nidorina TEU 55
    • 2 Nidoqueen TEU 56

    Trainer Cards - 32

    • 2 Pokémon Communication TEU 152
    • 1 Coach Trainer UNM 192
    • 2 Lysandre FLF 90
    • 1 Mallow & Lana CEC 198
    • 2 Pokémon Fan Club UPR 133
    • 1 Tate & Liza CES 148
    • 4 Cynthia UPR 119
    • 2 Pokémon Center Lady FLF 93
    • 1 Escape Board UPR 122
    • 1 Brock's Grit TEU 135
    • 4 Steven ROS 90
    • 1 Sky Field ROS 89
    • 1 Pokégear 3.0 UNB 182
    • 1 Great Catcher CEC 192
    • 2 Muscle Band XY 121
    • 1 VS Seeker PHF 109
    • 4 Professor Kukui SUM 128
    • 1 Ultra Forest Kartenvoy UNB 188

    Energy - 13

    • 6 Grass Energy SMEnergy 1
    • 7 Psychic Energy SMEnergy 5

    A few notes:

    • Sky Field is only there as Stadium removal, but now that I think about it, I should probably use the one Field Blower I have. That said it has some minimal synergy with Silvally-GX.
    • Ultra Forest Kartenvoy has been key for defeating Keldeo-GX and other Alolan Ninetales I encountered, also I have enough card draw and supporter tutoring.
    • I use to run Dodrio for easy retreating between my GX mons but cut it now that I have Silvally-GX.
    • I slowly thing the Nidoran F line is the weakest link here.
    • I could consider switching Grass for another type, as I have other good GX I would like to test such as Braixen & Charizard-GX or Girachomp-GX
    • Unfortunately I don't own a Tag Call yet
    • Finally for all those who began recently like me: Don't hesitate to build your own deck with your limited collection, it hones your deckbuilding skill and it is fun.

I am open to any feedback :)

PSA : Rules and mechanics change are effective after this update

Should Legacy format not have the first turn rules applied to it?

    Posted: 04 Feb 2020 12:34 PM PST

The new rule changes about "Turn 1, no supporter" are applied to Standard and Expanded formats, but perhaps should not be applied to Legacy format since Legacy is not a recognized format by the TPCi/the TCG. There are no Legacy tournaments in real life, so no Pokemon TCG Championship points can be gained in the TCG by Legacy, you cannot qualify for Worlds by Legacy format, because it doesn't exist forTPCi/the TCG, it's just a fun format on PTCGO. The new rule changes were likely made by people who have no idea Legacy format exists on PTCGO.

I see in one way it makes sense to keep things consistent on PTCGO, but in other ways it doesn't, as the cards designed during those generations (for Legacy format) were designed for first person to be able to attack first, and of course use supporter too. Taking away both those options now fundamentally changes Legacy format into something it never was intended for.

I know Legacy format is a small % of the PTCGO player base, but it seems that the rule changes were intended for Standard and Expanded format, since those formats were explicitly stated on official sites.

So what do you all think, should Legacy format not have the first turn rules applied to it?

Has the newest update broken Spell Tag?

    Posted: 04 Feb 2020 07:38 PM PST

Whenever I play with malamar and my tina faints with spell tag attached, sometimes it just skips the placing damage counter phase. Is this happening with anyone else?

    Trying to understand https://www.ptcgoguide.com

    Posted: 04 Feb 2020 05:55 PM PST

I don't quite understand what the different numbers mean. For instance under Sun and Moon Cosmic Eclipse says 1, but then just under that hidden fates is .75. Is this like a dollar amount that they are worth? Sorry in advance, I'm super new and just trying to figure things out!

So the maintenance has started and I wanted to see the announcement, where do you find this info? I thought I'd find it in the forum, but I didn't find anything, I'm not sure it's updated frequently.

    Worlds Championship Decks

    Posted: 04 Feb 2020 04:21 PM PST

Hi is it worth getting the worlds championship deck? Couldn't find the answer online but I wanted to know if I buy a worlds championship deck (e.g. Mew & Mewtwo), will I get that deck to be used online? If not then what do the online codes provide for PCTGO?
