    Super-Ban Event - Begins June 28

    Posted: 15 Jun 2020 01:33 PM PDT

Hi everyone, announcing a new /r/ptcgoleague tournament: the Super-Ban Event! Entry is free and everyone is welcome to play! The Top 8 competitors will share a prize pool of 75 Rebel Clash codes.

In this event, each participant will be asked to choose one card name from the Expanded card pool that they would like to see banned. As the tournament progresses, more and more of these cards will be randomly added to the event banlist. As the list of banned cards grows each round, players must continue to adjust their decks accordingly.

Anyone interested in participating in the event can visit the registration page!
You must register by Wednesday, June 24.

This tournament is sponsored by https://www.cardcaverntradingcards.com/

This tournament (and all other r/ptcgo & r/ptcgoleague tournaments) are not endorsed by TPCi

Average timezone of players in the Binary Theme tournament

    Posted: 16 Jun 2020 02:27 AM PDT

It's a small thing, but I thought I should write it down somewhere...

I was curious, so I copied the 'timezone' column from the sheet of players in the Binary Theme tournament on r/ptcgoleague and converted the free-text to UTC offsets.

There are 87 players. Their average timezone is UTC-2.4, AKA Newfoundland Daily Time (NDT).

I do not know what to do with this information.

Other online tournaments like the Sunday Open?

    Posted: 16 Jun 2020 08:22 AM PDT

    Hey!

Just wondering if you all know of any other tournaments similar to the Sunday Open? I know of that and the Player's Cup, but I don't have nearly enough tickets to compete in the cup.

Does anyone know of anything else? Thanks!

Do you guys think Jirachi will stay this low price of 4-5 packs now?

    Posted: 15 Jun 2020 07:32 PM PDT

Jirachi seems to be at a permanent low for a few weeks, and with the other jirachi from darkness ablaze, I don't see it rising now from now on.

    What do you guys think?

    Alolan Raticate-GX in Mewtwo/Mew-GX deck??

    Posted: 15 Jun 2020 10:14 AM PDT

Hey guys. I'm working on building out a Mewtwo/Mew deck based on rainbow energy. I've seen several lists that include Alolan Raticate-GX, and I can't figure out why it's relevant. Is it just the ability to discard cards from your hand? The GX move isn't as good as Sol Burst, which is also in the lists I've seen.

    Expanded staples?

    Posted: 15 Jun 2020 01:48 PM PDT

So I have been playing ptcgo for about 12-18 months and I have basically only played standard. I tried expanded when I first started but I quickly realized I didn't have the card to keep up. It was much more manageable to keep up in standard where I do pretty well and have almost all the relevant cards.

I have been playing expanded now for about 2 weeks and I want to know what are the staple cards I should have in expanded. I'll list the cars I consistently saw the most on the ladder that I already have. I won't list things that basically do the same thing as something in standard i.e I have 4 Professor's Research so I don't need Juniper.

    • Shaymin EX (2x)
    • Field Blower
    • Hypntoxic Laser
    • Super Rod
    • Trainers Mail (2x)
    • VS Seeker (3x)
    • Sky Field (2x)
    • Verbank City Gym
    • AZ
    • Brigette
    • Colress (2x)
    • N (4x)
    • Choice Band (2x)
    • Muscle Band (2x)

*** Cards with no number are 1 ***

Any help would be great. Just want to know what I should be focusing on trading for and what sealed packs to buy with my coins.

Btw, this subreddit it great. Hope y'all have fun.

    Tournament Rep

    Posted: 15 Jun 2020 03:11 PM PDT

Finished a tour on second place but didn't see my tour rep going up? It's been more than 45 minutes now and leaderboards are refreshed every 20 minutes. What gives?

    Inteleon VMAX sans Frosmoth?

    Posted: 15 Jun 2020 10:18 AM PDT

    Hi all,

In my quest to make Inteleon VMAX a viable, competitive deck heading into the rotation, I'm wondering if Frostmoth truly needs to be there?

For reference, I'm hoping to fashion it into a pseudo-Dragapult deck (spread damage) rather than rely on the inconsistency of Crushing Hammer and burning a Supporter for Team Yell Grunt.

I saw the Dragapult list from the 06/13 Players Cup Invitational Limitless posted here: https://limitlesstcg.com/decks/?list=4481

Maybe I'm crazy, but can't that be tweaked for our boy Inteleon? I mean, swap out the Dragapult line for Inteleon V/VMAX, swap the Mysterious Treasure with Poke Comms, and Energy Spinner with Capacious Bucket.

I understand Dragapult doesn't need major acceleration due to the energy cost, but Inteleon is only one extra energy for Max Bullet.

But by taking out the Snom/Frosmoth, we have room for additional utility via Boss's Orders, Reset Stamp, Shrine of Punishment,or Acro Bike.

How crucial is Frosmoth to this type of deck?

    New player looking for resources

    Posted: 15 Jun 2020 12:48 PM PDT

As the title says, I'm a newer player that really has no idea what they are doing. Is there some sort of resources that I can reference to get in to this game? What should I be looking for or building towards? How to start a collection and maybe start to play competitively?

    People are so rude

    Posted: 15 Jun 2020 07:06 PM PDT

I'm ranting. I had a dark evo challenge and used a deck using zoroark and zoroark gx. I faced some terrible psychic deck using trovnoir and necrozma. I evolved 9 times using scoop ups and he lysandre's my last zorua!!! I doubt he was counting but super obnoxious. This isn't the first time this has happened either. Going after 1 prize pokemon I'm trying to evolve is messed up when I have shaymins. It doesn't even make sense to play your cards. I don't run energy, I will scoop when finished. I don't even bother with knockout challenges because conceding makes them so long. We're all trying to grind here, don't be difficult.
