    [Discussion] Just out of curiosity; any other Expanded players here not running V/V Max or ADP decks?

    Yes, I'm aware the answer to the title is "of course!" but I more wanted to start a discussion about what non-V/V Max or ADP decks other Expanded players are running.

    I'm a returning player and after 200+ matches I have noticed well over half the decks I play in Expanded are ADP or V decks (more of the latter). I get the allure of V cards, quite a few have over 200 HP. V Max cards are monstrous in HP and hit hard. Pair it with some of the crazier Expanded cards and you are super OP. Still a good amount of other Tag Team cards around too.

    Personally I've never ran an EX/GX deck as I don't play that way. I use a Talonflame Break and Pyroar Break deck. Has allowed me to win 12 tournaments since I began playing again three weeks ago which has been helpful in catching up with packs (I stopped playing regularly in summer 2019). I've added a Welder card as I found it fit me perfectly.

    Noob here. I have a question about versus mode. If you lose, do you also lose points (lighting bolts)?

    Couple of Codes for Ya

    Posted: 15 Jan 2021 03:08 PM PST

    I have a three ~mystery~ codes in hand- I have no idea which pack these codes came from. I've stopped playing tcgo a while ago, and I have no need for them.

    First come first serve and only one per person!

    Edit: All codes are now gone. I hope those codes bring you something good!

    Noob questions about theme and standard decks--I appreciate your guidance!

    Posted: 15 Jan 2021 10:01 PM PST

    Thanks for looking at my post. Been playing a whopping three days and am trying to sort of wrap my head around some things that I know should be obvious but aren't:

    --Can you build a theme deck, or are the decks you buy (or are given at the start) the only decks that can be "theme"?

    --Is there any way to edit a theme deck? I double click on them, but they do not open up and allow me to make tweaks. Just wondering if this changes after I get past a certain point.

    --I've read here in the sub that, as a new player, I should focus on Vs laddering with Theme or Standard, which is understandable. Can you guide me towards what are the best packs or decks to focus on if I want to expand my Standard pool of cards?

    Any other tips you believe useful will be much appreciated as well!

    What do you think is ADP's worst match-up? (and why)

    Posted: 15 Jan 2021 08:45 AM PST

    Ive just heard so many different opinions on this. The best answer Ive seen is "rotation". I am interested to see if there is any sort of consensus.

    Gnawing aura interaction

    Posted: 15 Jan 2021 09:03 PM PST

    Currently playing a game with my gf and I used electrify on my boltund v while she was using cursola V. The ability on cursola states "when energy is placed from your hand onto a Pokemon" but my question is does the energy attached from electrify activate the ability?

    Wobbuffet/Gengar Enrage Deck

    Posted: 15 Jan 2021 01:13 PM PST

    This is an original Wobbuffet meme deck concept idea I had that took some inspiration from a YouTube video by LittleDarkFury about a Reuniclus and Vileplume GX combo that basically erased all damage on Carracosta GX, the main attacker. Instead of preventing damage, though, my deck requires having enough damage counters on all of my Pokemon combined to move them with Gengar onto my active Wobbuffet + Cape of Toughness and one-shot almost all non-Vmax threats. However, besides damage output not necessarily being high enough, I can't get the combo working as often as I'd like, and I need some help. Deck list is below.

    Important things to know about the cards:

    1. Gengar's ability, Life Shaker, reads as follows: "As often as you like during your turn, you may move 1 damage counter from 1 of your Psychic Pokemon to another of your Psychic Pokemon."
    2. Wobbuffet's first attack, Gritty Comeback, costs 2 colorless energy and reads as follows: "Switch all damage counters on this Pokemon with those on your opponent's Active Pokemon."
    3. Vileplume GX's ability, Fragrant Flower Garden, reads as follows: Once during your turn (before your attack), you may heal 30 damage from each of your Pokemon.

    Questions I have about my deck:

    One problem with the deck is the health cap of 270 on Wobbuffet after Robes of Toughness (and thus max damage output of 260). After using Gritty Comeback, which switches all damage counters on it with the counters on the opponent's active, this deck doesn't really have a way of dealing substantial more damage to the opponent. Wobbuffet's other attack, Shadow Bind, with 70 attack, isn't even enough to finish off an Eternatus Vmax that took 260 from the Wobbuffet in the previous turn (although Eternatus with a type advantage will wreck this deck anyway). Is there any other way to somehow increase Wobbuffet's damage output to a more meaningful amount? ADP is just two more damage counters away from being OHKO'd. Maybe I should just write off the Eternatus matchup as a complete loss from the start and should focus on 2-shotting all other Vmax Pokemon with the combination of Gritty Comeback followed by Shadow Bind.

    There isn't any energy acceleration, and I am still too new to the game to know all of my options, especially with Psychic decks. The two copies of Viridian Forest are there just so that I can reliably find any energy at all in the first place. But I don't even know what cards I would swap out for energy acceleration if I found a good option.

    There isn't any really reliable draw or Supporter search. I don't want to put too many Crobat/Dedenne/Oricorio/Oranguru-type cards into the deck, because I'd really only ever want one on my bench at any time. The rest should ideally be Psychic types so that Gengar can spread out as much damage onto the bench as possible until it's time to unleash a large attack with Wobbuffet.

    Is Vileplume GX even necessary to stall out larger hits to set up for a big one, or should I go for something that can spread damage onto my own bench, sort of like Spiritomb (which wouldn't actually work with Gengar's ability)? I don't even know what options are out there for that sort of thing, but Vileplume not being a Psychic type also limits the amount of damage I can retain on my bench before a big Gritty Comeback attack from Wobbuffet. However, Vileplume has the next highest-damage attack in the deck with Massive Bloom (even Allergic Explosion GX is just 10 damage under Gengar's 3-energy Hypnoblast, which is in second place at 90 damage). I haven't been able to play against meta decks like Pikarom, ADPZ, or others yet, and I imagine tanking two 150+ damage hits gets more difficult without Vileplume to mitigate at least some of the damage while setting up for a big Gritty Comeback. However, if there was another useful Psychic type Pokemon on the bench with a lot of HP, Gengar could just move damage counters onto that Pokemon for the time being. Another problem with Vileplume (that Gengar also has) is that it's a Stage 2 and requires a good amount of setup time to get everything up and running on the bench.

    Is there a better alternative to Cursola V? It's there partially because I think it's a cool card and partially to be able to pick off highly damaged Pokemon on my opponent's bench, but ideally my opponent's active would have no damage counters on it already when I use Wobbuffet's Gritty Comeback so that Wobbuffet is at full health at the end of the turn. Putting damage on the opponent's bench just weakens Wobbuffet after it attacks.

    Deck List:

    ##Pokémon - 15

    * 1 Crobat V DAA 104

    * 2 Oddish UNB 6

    * 2 Vileplume-GX CEC 4

    * 3 Galarian Cursola V CPA 71

    * 2 Gastly SSH 83

    * 2 Wobbuffet V SSH 86

    * 1 Haunter SSH 84

    * 2 Gengar SSH 85

    ##Trainer Cards - 33

    * 2 Viridian Forest TEU 156

    * 3 Cape of Toughness DAA 160

    * 3 Pokémon Communication TEU 152

    * 1 Ordinary Rod SSH 171

    * 4 Quick Ball SSH 179

    * 4 Rare Candy SSH 180

    * 2 Air Balloon SSH 156

    * 1 Pokégear 3.0 SSH 174

    * 4 Professor's Research SSH 178

    * 4 Marnie SSH 169

    * 3 Boss's Orders RCL 154

    * 2 Switch SSH 183

    ##Energy - 12

    * 10 Psychic Energy SWSHEnergy 5

    * 2 Grass Energy SWSHEnergy 1

    Total Cards - 60

    EDIT 1: Added another thought that I forgot to mention about possibly just writing off Eternatus Vmax and focusing damage output in other matchups.

    EDIT 2: Mentioned in the first sentence that this deck is meant to focus on Wobbuffet V and is thus basically just a meme.

    Is it possible to get the repeated V or GX card from booster packs?

    Posted: 15 Jan 2021 06:39 PM PST

    I have 1 of all V and VMAX cards of Vivid Voltage expansion, but since I got my last one I opened like 20 packs and didn't got a repeated card. Is there some kind of restriction about it? Can we only get 1 of each V and VMAX cards from ingame booster packs?

    Game Not Working

    Posted: 15 Jan 2021 09:42 AM PST

    I've had the game for about 3 years now and I haven't touched it in 2 years because it stopped working but now I got back into opening Pokémon cards and I wanted to play the game again. Every time I load up the game it just gives me a problem and forces me to exit. I saw on another post that you have to do this repair thing but if I do that it tells me my profile file is missing and reinstalling it doesn't work also. Anyone know how to fix this?

    Should ADP go first or second?

    Posted: 15 Jan 2021 11:19 AM PST

    I'm always torn because the safe play is first to start getting energy out but I feel like most of the time I either get crushing hammered and/or if my opponent is using ADP they'll use metal saucer / energy switch to get a turn 1 altered creation after me.

    What’s the best structure deck for a new player?

    Posted: 15 Jan 2021 12:56 PM PST

    My friend just got me into the tcgo and I'm wanting a competitive deck without breaking the bank. Any advice is welcome. I also am slightly interested in poison types if that matters.

    Development Roadmap / Future of the Game?

    Posted: 15 Jan 2021 12:43 PM PST

    Is there any communication from then developer of upcoming features or development for this game? I have not been able to find any resources that state any upcoming changes or updates other than just generic patching.

    From what I can get her from this subreddit, the common opinion is that this game is stagnant without some sort of developmental roadmap from the dev team.

    Tournament rep

    Posted: 15 Jan 2021 11:27 AM PST

    Hi there, during the players cup 2 qualifiers, I played the key tournaments and no tournament rep showed up on the website. Now when I log onto my account on the pokemon website and view the tournament rep leaderboards it tells me this: You haven't earned any Tournament Rep yet this month. Play Tournament matches in the Pokémon TCG Online to start earning Tournament Rep. Even though I have played tournaments this month. Im going to try to play the players cup 3 but I'm scared that my results wont be recorded. Has anyone had this issue before? Or does anyone know a solution?
