Shining Fates will go live on Friday, February 19th

    Posted: 17 Feb 2021 09:23 AM PST

As per the patch notes, Shining Fates won't go live a day early like the main sets so we'll have to wait until Friday, February 19th (probably at 10am PT/1pm ET) to open packs. Like other special sets you won't be able to buy packs in the in-game shop:

"Added support for the Pokémon TCG: Shining Fates expansion. This expansion will be available in the game on February 19 and will be legal for use in tournaments starting March 5. Shining Fates booster packs will not be available in the Shop."

"This deck is not valid for current queue". Anyone spot a problem here? Why can't I play it on expanded?

    Pack to pack values

    Posted: 18 Feb 2021 05:58 AM PST

Is there any resource out there to tell how much individual packs are worth compared to each other? I want to trade my Vivid Voltage packs for different, since I'm expecting them to drop in value as time goes on, and I cant find a way to tell a fair price for them.

Is Zekrom/Reshiram full art from Black and White worth anything?

    Posted: 18 Feb 2021 05:46 AM PST

I wanted to know what's the value for an old card that only collectors care about because TCGPrices isn't very good with less popular trades prices.

Is there a place I can go to to find out the relative price of each pack? I’d like to know so I can decide if this trade is worth it or not.

    NagLord Energy?

I was battling a player who had the NagLord tag team. He was able to attack with a double dragon energy and grass energy attached. He used his GX attack the turn before this screenshot and was able to grab prize cards. He was also able to attack with Jet Pierce. Am I missing something? Is this a bug?

Switched to pikarom recently, keep running into these decks and getting bricked. Any ideas on the best option to avoid getting stalled out by these decks?

Some of the cards include: black and white legendary treasures, XY, plasma freeze, plasma blast, trainer challenge, and cards w/ pokemon such as mewtwo and leafeon

    Thanks!

What I have, what to buy?

    Posted: 17 Feb 2021 09:15 AM PST

So my wonderful SO bought me the XY Fates Collide Lugia and Zygarde decks, but I am being completely obliterated in versus. Can someone give me a basic run down for these questions?

What are the current "standard" cards and when do they switch?

What is the difference between V, VMax, EX, and GX and which are best? What should I buy to get these?

Ban more cards in expanded and bring back turn 1 supporter

    Posted: 17 Feb 2021 07:36 PM PST

Can someone please explain this logic

We have banned cards like archeops and maxies and Forrest of giant plants. All these cards were removed from play because they prevent players from playing the game. They prevent you doing so on turn 1. The decks can literally prevent you from playing at all.

But we allow cards like silent lab, power plant, honchkrow, latias donk to exist still

Are the decks so op that they're unbeatable? No! but some of the cards banned in expanded are also not unbeatable. Like when some person tells me to just play lots of chaotic swells and field blower I could just say hey why don't you just play a dark deck so you don't lose to turn trevenant when they get to use Forrest of giant plants or like me saying to play quad wobbafet to make sure shifttry doesn't shuffle in all your Pokémon. I shouldn't have to over tech a deck to deal with certain cards.

All these cards can single handling allow a person to win a game easily turn 1. They can prevent you from playing any cards your first turn because you've built your deck that relies on your ability to search and draw from your deck based with Pokémon with abilities. You've done this because turn 1 you no longer can play a supporter.

The most recent expanded tournament featured a deck that won most of its games by abusing silent lab which was togekiss v max.

I really like expanded and all it has to offer but if your logic is to ban cards that prevent people from playing the game then you need to ban more cards in expanded because you've got a lot of cards/decks still doing that.
