This really grinds my gears when people take so long to take a turn, we ended the game with his time remaining being 13:56 and mine being just over 22min

Will PTCGO Ever Get Modern CCG Features?

    Posted: 19 Apr 2021 07:01 AM PDT

    Hello all,

I am not really a huge Pokemon fan or anything but decided to try the game since I remember playing it when I was really young. Overall I find the gameplay solid and love the theme deck matchmaking. Some of the more common features from games surprisingly aren't in the game.

    1. Doesn't seem to be any asynchronized events: I feel it really makes games more enjoyable when you can play events at your own pace. On PTCGO it looks like you have to wait for the tournaments to fill and play all at once. If I am wrong feel free to correct me.
    2. No Cash Shop: This is probably the most confusing thing. Digital CCGs are great because of the convenience. As far as I can tell the only "official" way to get more things is buy real Pokemon cards which I really don't want to do. Otherwise it looks like I have to go to random sites to order codes, which as a new play is super confusing and a little frustrating.
    3. No "dusting": I might be the minority on this website but I HATE trading, I played MTGO and hated dealing with all that. Pretty much every game now and days lets you just play and "dust" all your extra cards to craft cards you want.
    4. No Phone Support: This is also super surprising. It is pretty much an easy way to get more players. Also nothing is better for a CCG then having the option to complete dailies while out of the house or just on your phone watching TV!

Has there been any discussion of bringing these things over? or even a future game? kind of like how MTG Arena separated itself from MTGO.

Overall the interface and actually gameplay is quite solid. It is amazing the game lets you play with premade decks which pretty much every other digital CCG is sorely lacking.

I will definitely be playing with theme decks casually and am glad there are rewards for playing unlike when I played MTGO where you either bought cards won tournaments or were just out of luck.

One day I would like to get into constructed but am mainly worried it will just turn into every other games where people just use like 1-6 decks. There are a lot of Pokemon even from the little trainer challenge that seem super interesting to me but I have a feeling they are unplayable.

Oddly the game that got me interested was the Gameboy Color game, I was playing on a 2-3 hour drive and it really intrigued me. I will say by far the most frustrating part of the gameplay is the coin flipping :(.

I really like Corviknight VMax, but I think my results with this is really lacking. My main reasons I have lost is because of the fact that I have an extreme lack of energy when I start, and it usually resorts in me losing. Thanks in advance for suggestions!

Help Streamlining This Togekiss/Corviknight Deck (plus Post Rotation Thoughts)

    Posted: 19 Apr 2021 08:32 AM PDT

I've been using the below deck for a while now, and I do enjoy how it plays... Though sometimes I can't get the Togekiss up, which leaves me in the dust. The basic strat that I've been employing is:

    • Get Zacian V out into play and Intrepid Sword
    • Set up Togekiss VMAX and start attacking
    • Sweep in with Corvikight VMAX or Zacian to collect kills
    • Move energy with Bronzong/Cheryl to heal Togekiss and Corviknight.

What I want to know, is what changes to the list would you make to all but guarantee a Turn 2 Togekiss VMAX?

Also, for post rotation, would a Big Charm be the best bet to avoid the RS Urshifu snipe onto Bronzong?

    Thank you all in advance!

When should I start preparing for rotation?

    Posted: 18 Apr 2021 07:24 PM PDT

Looking through my decks today I realized that I have no build set up for post rotation, and I know we have months until rotation but I would still like to prepare a deck for rotation. What decks will emerge post rotation and when should I start to get the cards for them?

What's an adequate theme deck to use temporarily?

    Posted: 19 Apr 2021 07:34 AM PDT

A while ago, when I started playing ptcgo, I bought the resilient life theme deck. As a result, I don't have many coins, and it's very hard to grind for the rest I need to buy a stronger one to use on the theme deck ladder. What should I do to be able to reach that point? I'd be willing to buy a theme deck code online if I must.

pretty much the whole point is t2 ninetales to lock black market in and just trade spiritombs for kills while the opponent doesnt take any prize cards.
the sts spiritomb is to mess them up if they retreat the hitten pokemons, gladion in-case its prized, capes for more dmg on spiritombs, mew to protect the bench, jynx to move some dmg counters around the spiritombs.
any ideas on how to make this even more annoying?

Anyone have an optimal Victini VMAX list?

    Posted: 19 Apr 2021 04:58 AM PDT

    Hey everyone,

I just got my third Victini Vmax from locked packs. I have Victini V's as well, pretty much everything you would need in a deck (rats, bats, welder, etc.) Can someone show me an optimal list? I looked between Tricky gym, SaBleyes, AzulGG and Celio's but they were all pretty different. The only thing I don't have is any m3ws, so preferably no decks that incorporate m3w.

    Thanks in advance

    Just got scammed in Trade

    Posted: 19 Apr 2021 12:24 AM PDT

Unfortunately I am new to the online aspect of the card game. I started playing this weekend and tonight got scammed out of 20 Battle Styles packs for something I thought was a good trade.

Long story short, I opened a ticket with support and was curious if they are able to reverse the trade or anything.

Can someone tell me or link me to a website that has the current pack value for trading? Also question about certain water Pokemon.

    Posted: 19 Apr 2021 04:08 AM PDT

Like I know nobody wants forbidden light, but I have some cosmic eclipse and hidden fates. Are those worth anything? Is there a site that has up to date value of different tradeable card packs?

I want to get a shiny Lapras V from Shining Fates. I have 8 cosmic eclipse, 4 hidden fates, and 4 forbidden light. Are those enough for a shiny Lapras V? How much should I put a trade request for? And will I have enough leftover for a shiny Lapras Vmax or should I buy more pack codes online? I also have 4 rebel clash but I want to open those. But if they are good trade value I might trade them since my water deck took out 17 cards for being last standard rotation.

Side question I don't want to make a thread for: Are there any water Pokemon that negate damage of V or Vmax Pokémon?

How many packs will I need to get a Tier 1 Expanded deck?

    Posted: 18 Apr 2021 04:40 PM PDT

Theme is definitely fun, but it's looking like it might be quite a grind to get to another format..

Most optimal deck build for what I have in my binder?

    Posted: 18 Apr 2021 05:46 PM PDT

I was just redeeming some codes amd ended up having a bit more stuff than I was expecting to. I have: 30 BST packs to trade for stuff, 2 Zacian V, 1 Mew3, 1 ADP, 3 Crobat V, 2 Dedene GX, 1 Bronzong, 2 Lucmetal GX and 1 Mawile GX.

Regarding supporters I have a lot of everything but Double Dragon energies if I were to use ADP and play expanded.

What do you guys reckon I should do? Turbo Zacian? Mew3 toolbox to counter Urshifu/ADP/Eternatus? ADP? Lucmetal? Sell and go for Eternatus/Urshifu/Victini?

This is the first time I will be playing something out of 1-prizers since 2016. I have recently played Sandaconda, Deep forest cammo Decidueye, Creepshow Gengar+Bats and Mad Party.

    Thank you all 😁

    Viable lightning type single-prize attackers

    Posted: 18 Apr 2021 02:32 PM PDT

I'm looking for a counter to decidueye when running my Pikarom deck, i find i can usually win by setting up faster but as soon as they manage to rate candy a deci into play, i'm done for. so, i'm looking for a single prize attacker that i can take down deciueyes with. for whatever reason deci counts as a grass and not a bird type, so i can't use weakness to my advantage. Thoughts?

    Metal Goggles?

I had a Lairon with metal goggles against a Zacian with a tool that increases attacks by 20, and still got hit for full damage? Is it a glitch?
