Posted: 06 Jun 2021 05:01 AM PDT Hello, I'm part of a web game preservation project called BlueMaxima's Flashpoint, and I am aiming to restore the Flash-based Pokémon Trading Card Game Online Tutorials (for those not around that time, check this recording). If you'd like to be able to play it again, here is how you can help! If you still have access to a Windows computer where you played PTCGO, you may be able to help revive the game. Web browsers often save files from websites you visit in a place called the "cache", which is particularly useful when trying to find lost web games. We made a small tool called the Flashpoint Cache Exporter that automatically creates a list and copies any relevant files from your browser cache. If enough people use this tool to check their old computers for the game's files, the tutorials can be made fully playable again; the first two out of twelve game sections aren't lost media, thanks to the Wayback Machine. After executing the instructed steps, you can send the "ExportedCacheInfo.7z" file to me either by this thread, prostagma#2140 or this account. This method of recovering lost browser games by checking the cache has worked in the past. A Flashpoint member once found four previously lost Candystand.com games in the web cache of his old computer. Other cached PTCGO files could help Bulbapedia as well, such as this NPC's article with missing cards in old decklists. Let me know if you encounter any problems or have any questions!
