| Posted: 18 Nov 2019 02:50 PM PST So, out of curiosity I decided to pick up my first Pokemon trading card game theme deck and a couple of boosters from a card shop over the weekend. I had cards as a kid, but this is my first exposure since about 1999-2000ish. I thought it was really cool how the cards came with codes, so I could take my purchase online and play with my new deck. I've played MTG for some years in the past and dabbled with other card games but never saw this idea before. I was getting excited for the nostalgia of Pokemon and thinking of my fun childhood memories as the game downloaded. When I booted up the game, I must say I was shocked at the design of the software. I've heard it talked about so little and now I think I understand why- it is so lacking of the aesthetic and design that makes Pokemon so iconic and memorable. The menu and navigation looks like something from a e-learning course straight out of 1999. The aesthetics of the menus scream plain, generic flash game. The iconic character avatars and anime styling of the series is no where to be found, instead opting for awkward jenky looking avatars. The iconic music and sound effects, also not present. Nothing about the software says pokemon at all... except for the cards themselves. As I started into the game I was delighted for just how well it plays! They've managed to implement the core mechanics beautifully and I was having a great time with the actual gameplay of the software itself. Which just left me thinking, how can this software even expect to be competitive with MTG Arena, Hearthstone or any of the many other online card games in this state? The way that physical packs and decks are linked to your online account is a REAL WINNER, I love it, its fun and unique and adds more incentive to play the game. But its all so wasted on the dated generic looking piece of software with super low rent visuals. I'm new to this community, but can anyone tell me why the software is like this? Is there hope for a redesign? How is the communication with the devs? What is the state of the game? TLDR- bought pokemon cards for first time in 20 years, love the design and love online card games like Hearthstone and MTG Arena. This software is dated, ugly and lacks any of trademark pokemon feel. I fell in love with the gameplay experience, but how can anyone expect to see this online game grow with in its current state. [link] [comments] |
| Posted: 19 Nov 2019 04:01 AM PST Is there a reason why there are no other types of bans other than just straight up banning a card. For example, why couldn't Jirachi-EX and Island Challenge Amulet just be banned from being used in the same deck instead of fully banning amulet? [link] [comments] |

How can someone trade 2 tropical beaches andmore for some sleeves and how does one knows the prices of such sleeves, coins, deck boxes and promos cards??? Do people just keep guessing prices*? | How many CEC packs for the Let's Play Pikachu and Eevee theme decks? Posted: 18 Nov 2019 12:27 PM PST I want to trade for the Let's Play Pikachu and Eevee decks. I've checked the trades section but there aren't really any offers for the decks. I do have some packs to trade for, but I'm not sure about putting a number myself, since that my get me a bad deal.
