Welcome to the newest tournament hosted by me! Here's the description of the tournament gimmick and the rules that follow:

This tournament is all about coin flips. Any card that has the word 'coin' in it is eligible for participation. What do you say: Feeling lucky already?

    Here are the rules:

    1) All pokemon and trainer cards must have the word 'coin' in its description. For pokemon, the main attack does not have to be a coin flip, only the word has to be present somewhere on the card.

To find these cards easily, type in the word 'coin' into the card search and all cards with the word will appear. You can then type whatever you want after you add a space after coin to continue searching for your specific card. (See example below)

    Card search https://imgur.com/a/rhkmGRo

    2) All preevolution pokemon must also have the word 'coin' in their description. Otherwise they will not qualify for play.

Plan ahead before committing to a strategy. Not all final evolutions will have a pre evolution that qualifies.

    3) This is a Expanded and Legacy combined tournament.

In layman's terms, this is an Unlimited format with banned cards from expanded. All cards banned in expanded will also be banned here, but none qualify for the tournament except for First Ticket.

    4) Only energy does not have the 'coin' requirement

Go nuts here. All energy is allowed.

Now for the tournament required specifics.

This will be a 4 round Swiss tournament with an 8 bracket finisher. The top 8 at the Swiss tournament will qualify for the bracket. Matches will be 2 out of 3 and the deadline for them will be tentative depending on how fast people finish. However, the max amount of time I'll allow to complete the match is roughly 48 hours. Players who do not communicate with each other/complete their match within the set time will have their winning points determined on a case by case basis. Speak to me if you have any questions about this.

The goal during the Swiss tournament is to try to get to 10 points to qualify. 9 and under is acceptable as well but only if you make it to top 8. Wins earn you 3 points, loses 0, and Intentional Draws (ID) will net both players 1 point and neither will have to compete. However, ID must be agreed upon by both players.

The winners of the bracket tournament will receive these prizes.

    1st: 10 Sword and shield packs (SWSH) 2nd: 5 SWSH 3rd-4th: 3 SWSH 5th-8th: 1 SWSH

There is another prize available to all who participate as well.

Whomever gets the most heads during one match will receive 5 SWSH packs with picture proof.

To send proof, take a screenshot of your match conclusion screen (see example below) and send it to me. How you send it to me is at your discretion.

Picture proof https://imgur.com/a/eegC89I (This image is only an example. It does not count and do not plagurerize)

    Deadlines

Final deadline to submit decks is on March 11th at 11:59 midnight PST. There will be no acceptance of latecomers. You cannot make edits to your deck after submitting.

Deck submission form is here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf3YTeLXg6aMJj76Ev3fz6toLSSuk9qQy338tDTgiId0rMVtg/viewform?usp=sf_link

Current best theme deck to pick?

    Posted: 04 Mar 2020 12:54 AM PST

Hi, I'm quite new to TCG. I've played before but that was a long time ago, I stopped actively playing around... 2-3 years ago I think. Recently I got back into Pokémon and have decided to get back into card collecting and playing Online. Now, a lot has changed, new decks, new rules, new cards, and so on. I'm currently doing the Gold Trainer Challenges trying to get full stars on everyone to get collect booster packs, then going on to the next stage to collect booster packs and then the final one to again collect booster packs. I want to buy a few theme decks to have some variety in my decks before I make my own decks (I don't have the confidence I can build good decks yet due my inexperience, so I want to start off with theme decks). I have 500 coins so I have enough for 1 theme deck as of right now. I was thinking of getting towering heights. But I'm not sure how good it all is, so any recommendations and tips is greatly appreciated :)

When Rebel Clash releases, will Unbroken Bonds still be a good pack to trade with?

    Posted: 04 Mar 2020 08:02 AM PST

Currently I have 515 unbroken bonds packs... As question above indicates: when the new set releases in May, will I be able to get my wants from the new set just from trading unbroken bonds? As it stands, I have quite a few wants, especially new Pokémon v and v max... Thoughts?

The other disruption (mill) deck and probably one of the few decks that didn't change much at all from its Expanded variant, only losing Life Dew in favor of Metal Core Barrier in order to qualify. Losing Life Dew severely hurt its staying power, but its speed often helped it triumph over its slower setup opponents.

That's all folks! Congratulations to all that participated! It was a lot of fun! I hope we can do this again sometime in the near future!

    Best tech counter to Goons.

    Posted: 04 Mar 2020 03:08 AM PST

What do you use to counter goons if you are using ADP/Zacian, unless I am missing something, they can just stick a goon in the active and you can't do anything in a lot of ADP / Zacian builds.

    https://limitlesstcg.com/decks/?list=3518

Or is there a way around this I am overlooking.

Is there a good time to do tournaments?

    Posted: 03 Mar 2020 06:27 PM PST

I've been mostly away for the past year and have only recently picked the game back up. Had a good chunk of tournament tickets sitting in my account, but currently the rewards are split between sw&sh and random boosters. Id kind of just like the current set packs. Do tournament rewards follow a set schedule or do they just change randomly with the ladder changes?

    Caturday goons Roxie idea

    Posted: 03 Mar 2020 02:26 PM PST

Caturday esppur deals 20damage per dmg counter to benched pokemon. Use goons and koffing weezing w/ Roxie to apply the damage counters. This would require lots of deck space due to large number of pokemon included but goons counters that with less energy requirement.

    Budget Deck For New Players

    Posted: 03 Mar 2020 11:24 AM PST

Those of you looking to get out of Nuzzlechu, here's a deck list for ya

    https://preview.redd.it/g7vf5i4f9ik41.png?width=1438&format=png&auto=webp&s=cdc9d69085201b730907c85af84f4a84b6a3f3f4

    https://pastebin.com/rr8GeGv9

This is pretty solid deck. Favorable Welder Mewtwo, ADP Zacian, Cincinno mill, 50-50 with giritina malamar, pikarom is a bit of a problem (if you face a lot of pikarom tech in Lopunny), haven't played against goons yet, so I'm not sure but I think it'll be little less than 50-50. Feel free to tech other cards. I know latios-gx is a bit annoying so I was testing Victini V against it, but I didn't have much use of it in other games, so I removed it. Wait and see hammer is also a possible tech.

    Some card explanations.
4 Custom Catchers - best gust in the game and you have greens to get them
Energy retrieval - to avoid those crushing hammer throws
Great Potion - Makes Zacian really cry and fixes math in some matchups
Quick ball - to search for victini (actually you would probably be good with 2 victinis and one quick ball, but you have to have to get this turn 1, so being extra safe here)
Swell - for decks that are not dedenne based
Power Plant - apply burn after reset stamp
Channeler - Get out Clear Vision GX!
Mallow Lana - For giritina matchups, it's a good card, easily searchable, why not?
Big Charm - Fixing some math against Pikarom and Mewtwo matchups

    How to play:
    - Go second, turn 1 use victory sign on ADP
    - Turn 2: Ultimate ray (most scenarios, avoid Altered Creation GX unless you'r playing with single prizers then you can consider it depending on the pace of the game)
    - Both GX attacks are good, but I think Sky Legends is a bit better than Altered Creation.
    - Keep a close watch on what energies you have in the deck. Look at what is prized. Don't complain after you've used your Ultimate Ray!
    - Cynthia Caitlin >> Coach Trainer, Cynthia Caitlin gets you back your Green, Coach Trainer's just there if you don't have any other options
    - Energy spinner, don't have to get out three energies. I usually just get out two, or sometimes just one, cuz I need most of them in the deck!

    What to buy for Extended

I'm a newly returning player, played a bit a few years ago around the XY stuff then stopped. I kinda play causally picking things up and back down again, so I'm wanting to invest my time building an extended deck rather than focusing on an ever changing standard meta.

What packs, cards, or stuff should I focus my coins on?

And what would be the best way to grind / trade for them?

Any budget builds I can make quickly?

Any non-budget builds I should look at for long term?
