Amazing Rare Ho-oh / Ninja Boy Box

    Posted: 09 Apr 2021 06:56 AM PDT

Here is my Amazing Rare Ninja box list that I have been tuning over the past few days on the Expanded ladder. Gameplan is to turbo out 3-4 Ho-Oh + 3 energy into the discard then Ninja Boy into the appropriate counter for the opponent's deck. According to the stat sheet, right now it has an overall 61% W/L with this particular version having a W/L of 68%, all sub 100 games. I am 90% sure in the card choices I have made but I feel that it needs some tweaking.

****** Pokémon Trading Card Game Deck List ******

    Pokémon - 17

    • 2 Rayquaza VIV 138
    • 1 Snorlax VIV 131
    • 1 Crobat V DAA 104
    • 1 Clefairy EVO 63
    • 2 Marshadow-GX BUS 80
    • 4 Ho-Oh-EX DRX 22
    • 1 Dedenne-GX UNB 195
    • 2 Raikou VIV 50
    • 2 Mew FCO 29
    • 1 Tapu Lele-GX GRI 60

    Trainer Cards - 35

    • 4 Trainers' Mail ROS 92
    • 2 Rescue Stretcher GRI 130
    • 3 Ultra Ball DEX 102
    • 4 Acro Bike PRC 122
    • 3 Ninja Boy STS 103
    • 4 Quick Ball SSH 179
    • 4 Battle Compressor Team Flare Gear PHF 92
    • 4 Float Stone PLF 99
    • 1 Professor's Research SSH 201
    • 1 Field Blower GRI 125
    • 1 Dowsing Machine PLS 128
    • 4 VS Seeker PHF 109

    Energy - 8

    • 2 Lightning Energy
    • 2 Fighting Energy
    • 2 Metal Energy
    • 2 Grass Energy

    Total Cards - 60

Some of the misc. card choices: * 4 Supporters - You run enough card draw and card filtering where you consistently hit Ninja Boy. Research is an emergency Draw 7 that I'm not entirely sure is better than the 4th Ninja Boy. * Clefairy EVO 63 - 3 colorless energy fairy type attacker that oneshots Dragon Pokemon * Snorlax VIV 131 - The deck relies heavily on going second for quick wins. Snorlax acts as an alternative Turn 1 starter that allows you to dump your hand and set up for a Turn 2 explosion. * 8 Energy - 2 of each energy helps prevent losses due to prized energy. I found that running any more hurt consistency.

Cards I have been considering * Kricketune V - Draw support pokemon with a mediocre attack that hits for weakness and only costs 1 to retreat. * Training Court / Viridian Forest - Energy Tutoring / Recovery would make it a lot easier to set up multiple 320 Rayquaza hits per game. * Zamazenta VIV - The 30 damage attack sets up energy nicely for a 180 damage play.

Some Specific Matchup Information * Honchkrow GX - If they have Silent Lab it becomes very difficult to win. While the deck likes having Float Stone to retreat with, you have plenty of 0 and 1 energy retreat pokemon that you can still setup and donk them. * Togekiss VMAX - Much better matchup for you than Honchkrow. The only cards you care about from them early are the stadiums. Raikou oneshots a Togekiss V and threatens a benched V with a twoshot unless they Max Potion. * ADP / TinaChomp - Clefairy is MVP here, oneshotting each while only providing one prize as a trade. * Ultra Necrozma Garbodor - Like Honchkrow, Silent Lab is the only card you care about vs them T1. While they have the option of T2 Garbodor, you can still donk them with Amazing Shot

    Any feedback is welcome.

    Fun deck ideas/budget options

    Posted: 09 Apr 2021 04:42 AM PDT

As the title says what are some decks that you have been having a lot of fun with that you dont typically see on ladder, as well as budget decks that you've had fun with! As a budget player myself I've been trying to theory craft my own decks but I figured I ask if anyone found success in their own original builds. I currently am finding a lot of fun and success with libero cinderace.

Why is the Galarian Darmanitan deck not viewed as a top tier deck?? It seems top tier to me ?? Explain why I'm wrong lol.

    Posted: 09 Apr 2021 12:09 AM PDT

Galarian Darmanitan never gets mentioned alongside SS/RF.
It has better supporting poké's than SS/FR.
It has 4 supporters that can deal 100-150 damage.
Only thunderus comes close as a supporter, with 120.
...but also -40 to your own team.

The deck also has 3 Darm's
    SS/RF only have 2 dragonite & zard.
Both of which can be wiped out by 1 shot from Darm.
...hell, beartic can even wipe out zard.

Zard does damage to himself & dragonite discards tons of energy. Darm can't do the same move 2x in a row, but u have a few switch cards.

    Separate Question
Can someone plz help me under this...

The fire-galarian-Darm card has "frozen heat"
this move uses water energy... so it's a water move?
but, it's a fire type pokémon... so is it a fire move ?

So yesterday's winner never responded on discord so I could send them the picture with codes (too lazy to type them all out in reddit chat) so let's try this again. First person to respond to this can have 4 shining fates codes.

    Turn #2 Self-Sabotage

    Posted: 08 Apr 2021 02:22 PM PDT

I just had someone run through their entire 60 card deck on their first turn.
My jaw is still on the floor, they basically ran themselves out of cards and forfeited.
The only thing I can fathom this being good for is training yourself to get cards quickly/effectively. Or else its a bot set to farm coins, it was moving so fast, I refuse to believe it was a human player.

Not like codes but maybe some packs that were won or even a full tradable deck do people buy and sell these?

ADP deck - any changes i should make ?

    Posted: 08 Apr 2021 12:08 PM PDT

How does the ADP GX attack work? Is it bugged?

    Posted: 08 Apr 2021 11:28 AM PDT

The text on ADP reads that if there's an extra water energy on it, then you take 1 extra prize card. Well, ADP was on this person's bench, never used a water energy at all, but yet when my Lucmetal got KO'ed (not by the ADP) they took 4 prize cards. I thought this was a one-off thing and I just missed something that happened in the game but it's happened 3 times now. Am I misunderstanding how the attack works, or what?
