How to install Pokemon TCG Online (PTCGO) on Linux in July 2021 Posted: 26 Jul 2021 02:00 AM PDT I'm completely new to Pokemon and PTCGO. I'm also a Linux user and I've struggled a bit to install PTCGO on Linux. Because of that, and since I've seen other people asking how to install it here and there, I've decided to write a short manual on how to get the game working on Linux (or at least how I got it to work on Linux Mint 20.2). I know this is pretty niche but hopefully it helps someone else looking for this answer. So here we go:
For some people this works and for some it doesn't. after installation when you try to play the game you might get some type of message stating the there are no files and nothing happens. IF IT DOESN'T WORK then do this instead to manually install the game with Lutris. Uninstall/remove the game from your PC by right clicking the game icon on Lutris and selecting "Remove". Note that each time I type USER_PC_NAME (all caps) it means your PC's name. To find out your PC's name open the terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T), type Now on to the manual installation.
It should now work. Hope this helped. Let me know if it works for you! If you needed to perform any further changes let me know in the comments. EDIT: please expect a few edits here and there as I'm still trying to get this looking a bit better. Also grammar :) [link] [comments] |

Players Avatars are outdated!! Posted: 25 Jul 2021 10:45 AM PDT This has been a topic of debate between me and my friends for a year now!! Player avatars need updated! They do not look good, features are barely even noticable and to top that off they don't even resemble Pokemon trainers! To few customization options and clothing options is another point people have brought up! My solution is a Character update featuring; New character models, that have updated visuals and you can keep your outfits and any unlocks. Many new outfits and a system that allows you to buy more options similar to pay to customize. This update will also include a much needed revamp to player profiles, adding new player poses and character backgrounds. My point is that if you updated the look of the characters it would be a benefit all around more money for the company and us players would enjoy more customization! Also the characters look like they were pulled from a 90s game and not in the good way! Even if you went in the way of introducing the option to pick between new and old avatars that would be a step up. In conclusion, I despise the avatars! Greatly.... Please please please fix them. They are really the only thing stopping me from playing more. They hurt my eyes to look at! Sincerely much love, Louie EDIT: thank you all for the awards! I didn't expect this to get as much attention as it has gotten 😂 [link] [comments] |
If you could improve one thing about PTCGO.... Posted: 25 Jul 2021 10:52 PM PDT Okay, my question is... As the title says if you could improve one thing. What would it be? I started a post about upgrading Avatars because they were ugly, but a lot of players had better upgrade ideas. So I want to hear from the community. What would you improve? Need advice on how to navigate the available decks for the trainer challenges Posted: 26 Jul 2021 08:39 AM PDT I've just started playing Pokemon TCG and PTCGO last week. I don't have time to play everyday so progress is and will be slow. That being said I am now going through the trainer challenges with the available decks which as you know are:
So far I've only beaten the two first trainers with the three decks and I only move on to another trainer after I've beaten the current one with all three decks. I've tried to search online for strategies/how to navigate the decks but haven't had much luck so far. I'm guessing these matches are very easy, but right now sometimes I have to rely on RNGesus to help out and land me a starting hand where I can beat the opponent with what I have. Also I'm guessing that the last deck I use on a trainer will always be harder as they haven gotten stronger after the first two matches, right? So my question is how should I navigate the decks to win? By this i mean what are the best moves I can pull, best card synergies, strategies, etc. Thanks on advance! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Jul 2021 04:26 AM PDT I might be blind but I just got this game and bought an evolutions pack and don't know how to open it. Where do I find it? [link] [comments] |
What aspect of Shadow Rider makes it Broken Posted: 26 Jul 2021 03:52 AM PDT I know Shadow Rider is broken. But why? Is it more than 1 energy acceleration per turn? But we always had it like frosmoth or acceleration from discard like malamar Is it 30 damage per energy ?We had Lapras VMax with snom or even boltund Is it horror house Gx (this is what I think)? But we always used it with Mew3 decks Is it the draw 2 ?We have cinccino and had Zoroark Is it ease of setting up alcremie VMax? Which of these objects do you think if we ban will bring it back to earth without completely breaking it(Before it was released I thought it was just a very good deck) [link] [comments] |
Posted: 26 Jul 2021 03:57 AM PDT Hi guys, anyone know if we're getting a welder or giant hearth equivalent in the next rotation? If not, a lot of the fire decks will be dead soon… [link] [comments] |
Which theme decks for type challenges? Posted: 26 Jul 2021 03:34 AM PDT I'm trying to find a theme deck for every challenge. Which ones should I buy? I'm using Soaring Storm for Dragon and Electric. Dragonite doesn't pop off that much, but the deck is so good that it's fine to farm with. I'm thinking either charizard or relentless flame for fire/psychic/grass. Don't know which of these is better, but I'll probably end up getting both anyways. Unseen depths for water. Maybe Rillaboom for grass? But charizard theme should be fine with Yanmega. The rest is tricky... Dark, fairy, steel, don't have very good decks. Fighting is decent with the Groudon deck, or maybe Garchomp. I heard about Zazamenta for steel, and Xerneas for Fairy. Nothing really stands out. Hoping to get some advice. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Kids have Japanese Penpals: Can they ptcgo? Posted: 25 Jul 2021 11:34 PM PDT Hey pokemasters, My kids recently got into pctgo. We have done some themed decks, and they're earning packs to improve their decks online with chores. My real question is Can my children's Japanese friends play against them? They really want to play Pokemon against each other. However, Skype isn't the best way to do this. All of the kids speak only a little of their counterpart's native tongue. So having ptcgo would be a godsend If anyone has experience with this, suggestions, or a cut and dry answer please help. Thank you so much in advance. -Pokedad [link] [comments] |
Getting away from theme decks. Posted: 25 Jul 2021 11:44 AM PDT I started playing 3 years ago and fell off after a month or so but now I've been playing again for a few weeks. I've only ever played theme decks but I want to branch out into standard. Should I just save up my coins and wait for the rotation to start building a deck or try to build one that will survive the rotation? Not trying to spend a lot of money so I'm thinking of just making one main deck to rock with for a while. Thanks! [link] [comments] |
Anybody having soaring storm lanturn glitch? Posted: 25 Jul 2021 10:29 PM PDT Yeah so Lanturn in soaring storm has an ability that can absorb an energy whenever your own Pokémon is knocked out by an attack. I played it a few times and realised that this has stopped working completely. Anybody experiencing the same thing? PS: no my Pokémon did not get knocked out from status attacks or whatever I tried it a few times and the ability stopped working [link] [comments] |

Posted: 25 Jul 2021 05:06 PM PDT Is anyone else seeing the weird amount of Lucario EX Decks on online versus, with robot seeming players? It's the same deck with just that card, fighting energies, and ethers. the players don't attack even when they have the energies, too? [link] [comments] |

Posted: 25 Jul 2021 11:39 PM PDT I know I dont have 4-4 shadow rider (f2p) but cant see how that would change much. Even when im blessed by rng and get set up asap, my opponent is already light years ahead. 17 games and 4 wins so far, just thought "the best card ever printed" would feel different I guess. Maybe its too early to tell? Played both standard and expanded, but focusing on expanded for now.
