Best Theme decks to get cards for standard Posted: 25 Dec 2020 06:11 PM PST I just got into ptcgo and have been playing around in versus and now want to dabble in standard. Which theme decks should i buy to get competitive playsets for that format? I know there are a few in some theme decks, but when looking up top standard decks and comparing them with theme decks, its kind of a clusterfuck for me. Ill check out all of your suggestions, interested in mon and trainers, even energy. please help:) Ninja Edit: also interested in terrible decks with a playable card or two. thanks [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Dec 2020 08:01 PM PST This is probably a pretty stupid question, but how can I go about properly filtering out normal versions of cards when I'm looking for a Secret Rare or something along those lines? Is it as simple as clicking the "Promo" (with a star) symbol under the Rarity section? For example, I'm looking for either a full art or a SR Boss's Orders. I saw one on the market for ~25 VV packs and wanted to see if there were any more. When I added that filter, though, I still saw the regular full art versions and not the SR. Also, when looking for the full art Crobat V -- is there a way to filter out the regular Crobat V? Or do I just need to bite the bullet and manually filter through all of the cards? Any advice would be greatly appreciated -- thanks and merry Christmas! [link] [comments] |
Advantages of Colorless Pokemon now that many Pokemon only use Colorless Energy? Posted: 25 Dec 2020 11:41 PM PST This was my first shock when I was introduced to the Relentless Flame theme deck. Because the entire Nidoqueen line has Pokemon with attacks that only require Colorless Energy, the theme deck is able to function with only Fire Energy cards even though that whole family is the Psychic type. The power creep of the Pokemon TCG can take forms other than Pokemon having more HP and stronger attacks; this kind of flexibility was never present in the game back in the late 1990s. If you ever got into the Pokemon Gen I games, you might have noticed that the entire shtick of Normal-type Pokemon is that they're super effective against nothing, take 2x damage from the Fighting type, but have incredibly powerful Pokemon like Chansey/Tauros/Snorlax because they can learn more types of TM moves than most other Pokemon. That's why these Normal-type Pokemon could often sweep entire teams (except Mewtwo) back in the old days of Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow. Well now in the modern card game, the Colorless type is still super effective against nothing, usually has a weakness like taking 2x damage from the Fighting type, and has powerful attacks/versatility that can also be found in non-Colorless Pokemon like the aforementioned Psychic Nidoqueen. Or the Grass-type Yanmega found alongside Leon's Charizard. Or the Water-type Empoleon with Recall that everybody uses to counter the aforementioned two Charizard decks. I guess my point is that I'm not seeing a point or advantage to the Colorless type anymore, since absolutely nothing is weak against them, and often powerful non-Colorless Pokemon can be similarly "splashed" into many decks without any drawbacks. If anything, it's often a strength if your team's diversity is now covering more potential weaknesses of the opponent's Pokemon. I'll admit I can sometimes have fun by spamming Ambipom's Bye-Bye Throw or Gumshoos's Identify, but those aren't moves that you couldn't find more powerful versions of anywhere else. Recommended Cards for Newbies? Posted: 25 Dec 2020 09:48 PM PST Howdy! I just started playing the TCGO recently and I've been enjoying it! After going pretty hard and buying a bunch of packs to open for myself (because I thoroughly enjoy it) and getting the ADP Z deck built for standard (don't hate me, I'm just getting into the format and saw that it was a good deck!) -- I've finally begun to accrue some packs to use for trades. I've only got 105 VV packs right now, but I was just wondering if there were any additional cards that any of you would recommend I pick up. Notably, I've got 2 Crobat V's and 2 Dedenne GX's, the big draw support bois as far as I'm aware. My ACD Z list doesn't run more than that, though, and I'm honestly planning on just practicing with that deck for awhile. So, with all of that out of the way -- do any of you have any suggestions? Should I go ahead and complete my playset of those two for future decks? Should I bling out some of my supporters? Should I go for a SR Quick Ball?! Or should I go ahead and hold onto the packs until a deck comes along that I'd like to try out? I know it's a pretty open-ended question and more of a "do what you think is best" kind of thing, but definitely let me know what you think! Thanks, and merry Christmas! [link] [comments] |

Colorless/lightning/GX addition for Morpy deck? Posted: 25 Dec 2020 09:13 PM PST What is the best colorless I can add to my Morpeko speed deck? I am currently not taking advantage of a GX attack either... Is there a lightning/colorless GX with compatible abilities/GX move for Morpy? [link] [comments] |
What is the best booster pack to buy right now? Posted: 25 Dec 2020 10:40 AM PST I'm looking to invest a lot of my coins to buy 50 packs. I want to know which packs are worth it [link] [comments] |
We really need to talk about the PTCGO client. Posted: 25 Dec 2020 04:22 PM PST Hi guys, First of all, Happy Holidays to all of you! I am here today to talk about the PTCGO client. It's no secret that it needs a MASSIVE rework, and TPCi doesn't seem to take us seriously. After all, why invest on the TCG's online version when they're making more money than ever with the game? People have tried to contact TPCi through many different channels to express their dissatisfaction, but all they got was radio silence. I myself have tried numerous times to contact them, but the response was always the same: "we'll forward your suggestion to the development team". I even tried to contact Dire Wolf Digital LLC, but they never acknowledged my emails. I think it's time for the community to make their voice heard. My question is, what can we do to achieve that? We need a solution! [link] [comments] |
Posted: 25 Dec 2020 04:03 PM PST I'm thinking of starting PCTGO up again after a while. I recently got my hands on 58 code cards. Is that enough to build a pretty good deck? [link] [comments] |

Morpeko/Doll Speed Deck suggestions? Posted: 25 Dec 2020 03:09 PM PST So I'm probably ~20% win percentage at best vs. the zombie/ADPZ horde (somewhat reliant on more perfect draws), but I feel real close to matching up as I'm usually one turn away from wrecking when they get me with a bosses order. I am more routinely beating most of the other deck types (except maybe mad tea partiers). I think I'm not drawing deep enough into the deck. I'm thinking scrapping some guys for a Dedenne or other. Suggestions? Broad deck descript below: 4x Morpy Vs 2x Morpimer Vmax 1x Boltund V for charging 1x Jirachi 1x Oranguru 1x Tapu Koko for charging 1x Stunfisk V for fun as colorless/another answer to decid./alt. decks Balls, Hammers, Switches, Spinners, Retrievers, Dolls, 4 Bird Switcher/drawers, Marnies, Grunts, power plant, bosses, skylas (limited on some trainers, I ran out of packs to trade. Boltund cost me a mini fortune). Speed lightning and capture energies. Is there another colorless attacker with abilities I could use here? Use to carry a swablu/altaria for stalling but just seemed like it wasn't getting played. I tried a vikivolt V and pika V.. same issue. I just really like my morpekos. [link] [comments] |
