What do you do with packs from older sets once a new set is released?

    Posted: 25 Dec 2020 04:51 AM PST

Just started playing around the time VIV was released and I've managed to amass 200+ packs via trades. Most are DAA with a few VIV. I understand the value of a new set is high during the first week or 2 then drops especially if the set is mediocre. What should I do? Should I continue trading for cards using the packs I have? Should I exchange some of them for packs of the newest set when it's released in March?

    Posted: 24 Dec 2020 02:24 PM PST

--------------------------- Giveaway Ended. The Winner Has Been Messaged -------------------------

Hello everyone, I recently found a stack of about 47 code cards from the Sword and Shield base set as well as a few from Champion's Path. If anyone is interested, leave a comment with a number between 29 and 461. I will message the person with the closest number to my own. I will find the winner around 12:00 AM EST (~6.5 hrs).

    :)

Have a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Kwazy Kwanzaa, a Tip-Top Tet, and a Solemn, Dignified Ramadan.

... The number was 417 for those curious.

Here are some codes. Merry Christmas

Here's a couple of codes for Christmas

    Posted: 25 Dec 2020 04:16 AM PST

I have 23 codes to give way.

    Posted: 24 Dec 2020 09:33 PM PST

This giveway is over. I've selected a winner. Thanks for playing.

I have codes ranging from sun and moon to vivid voltage. Codes also include theme decks and one for something called a build and battle box.

Comment a number between 1-1000. I'll use a number generator to select the number. Whoever's number is closest will win the codes.

I'll be doing the selection in 3 hours from the time this is posted.

Is there any way to submit feedback/suggestions to improve Trainer Challenge AI?

    Posted: 24 Dec 2020 11:14 PM PST

Basically like reporting a bug or an error on any other website, but with the intention of improving this game's AI instead. I'm sure that many kids who grew up playing with the cards in the 1990s have now grown up and are working as programmers. I find it hard to believe that somebody familiar with the rules of the game doesn't have the know-how to tweak the game's AI algorithm like this.

For example, you might play against Mick, the Fire trainer. He has Camerupt-EX which uses the attack Explosive Jet, the description of which reads:

Discard as many Fire Energy attached to your Pokémon as you like. This attack does 50 damage times the number of Energy cards you discarded.

So the computer will select this powerful move, but when it gets to the point where it selects how many Fire Energy cards to discard, it always selects zero, basically giving you a freebie every turn. Or, like how with Robo Substitute Team Flare Gear, the computer will always place this worthless card on the bench, only to immediately discard it simply because it has the option to do so and doesn't understand the significance of having filler on the bench.

The game has a ton of examples like this. They're all instances of the computer doing stupid things that no reasonable person familiar with the rules would do, and it's all simply due to a lack of foresight. It takes probably adding one line of code to fix any of these problems, so is there any way we can bring them to their attention? The game goes through maintenance and updates every once in a while, but none of these issues ever get fixed despite it being so easy to do so.

Hello, I opened a vivid voltage trainer box and I have code cards that I won’t ever use. Any takers? First come first serve :)

Any ideas for a fun expanded deck? :)

If we didn't have the ELO system, would the game be kinder to rogue/joke decks?

    Posted: 25 Dec 2020 12:06 AM PST

I'm asking this question because when I played in legacy with less competitive decks, I had the potential to run into players who either had the top decks in their arsenal or people who still played the theme decks. This allowed me to win more often with these rogue decks than I would playing in either expanded or standard.

So I'm curious if we really need the ELO system if people don't want to, or can't, play the almost repetitive top teir matchups and just want to play the more niche decks for a change of pace? Or would it just be better to lose repeatedly in a row and lower your ELO to the point where the skill level is low enough for you to play whatever you want?

Why is Ultra Necrozma/Garbodor so overrepresented on the Expanded ladder relative to it's tournament results?

    How to play expanded pikarom

    Posted: 24 Dec 2020 12:25 PM PST

I'm currently playing an aggressive build that goes thunder mountain and turn 1 full blitz. Basically the list that came second in one of the tourneys (i think tord reklev's list.) Just want to know how to play it to its full potential and how to play against certain matchups like item lock and what pokemon to accelerate to.

Relatively new, looking for anti wrencher decks

    Posted: 24 Dec 2020 12:36 PM PST

Pretty new to PtCGO, built a pretty sweet pikarom deck. Getting to the point where I feel like I'll have a good grasp on it soon and want to make another deck to learn more mechanics.

Notice a ton of fire decks with wrenches in the current meta. Would love to build a deck to counter those decks. Have a fair bit of wealth to work with to make trades so no worries on the cost.

Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!
