Does welder Alolan mukgx have potential?

    Posted: 25 Aug 2020 04:26 AM PDT

Did some really raw testing and the deck has some very nice things going for it.

The main strategy of the deck is to keep your muk alive as possible. You poison your opponent, take a hit, mallow and Lana and use his second attack to heal another 100 for 220. If you managed to add a buff padding to him he becomes 320 essentially a vmax territory. If you pull that of the opponents needs to do a minium of 270 damage each to two shot it something like eternateus. However your running indeedee v that makes it much harder to two shot.

indeedee v also benefit from welder that has 2 colorless and a psychic like muk. Against a meta deck like centiskorch v, you could see her one shotting centiskorch like it's nothing.

Math wise how much is muk dealing himself? If you use his first then his second that's a whopping 360 damage, enough to two shot anything. An muk maybe have the best gx in the game even though it's fifty fifty. If your opponent doesn't have a switch, the game is suddenly swing heavily in your favor.

This deck can be so extremely cheap, fun and it's post rotation friendly and there is some flaws with switches being a big thing. I'm still experimenting but I like to hear any ideas how you would build it.

    Friendly Reminder of format changes

    Posted: 25 Aug 2020 07:30 AM PDT

    Thursday, Aug. 27, 2020

    • 17:00 PDT (Aug. 28, 2020 00:00 UTC) - Sword & Shield—Darkness Ablaze cards can be used in Tournaments.

    Monday, Aug. 31, 2020

    • 12:00 PDT (~19:00 UTC) - Booster pack rewards for finishing 1st-4th place in a Tournament revert to a combination of booster packs from the most recent, regular expansion and random boosters for 1st and 2nd place finishers, and random boosters only for 3rd and 4th place finishers.

    Also note:

    - On August 27th, the Bellelba & Brycen Man and Mismagius UNB standard format bans will come into effect for the online client (August 28th for irl)

    - On August 28th, cards from the Ultra Prism, Forbidden Light, Celestial Storm, Dragon Majesty, and Lost Thunder sets will rotate out of the standard format (affects both Versus Ladder and Tournaments)

This means that the ULP - DAA (pre rotation/pog) format will only be available in tournaments for one day.

    Trainer card epiphany

After playing theme deck battles I have seen why trainer cards are so important if you don't go through your deck quick enough you get screwed! No point to this post just a general realisation

    Muk/Alolan Muk Deck?

    Posted: 25 Aug 2020 01:21 AM PDT

Hey all, I just started playing this today (well, tonight technically, I guess) and one of my packs gave me Muk & Alolan Muk GX. This card seems really cool, so I was wondering what cards I would need to build a deck around it? And, if possible, I would appreciate if you added what pack those cards could be found in.

Any good decks that can include their engine or a way to build deck around them? Without Malamar attach Arbok feels slow so I guess decks need a lot of stall and denial.

How do you play evolved Pokemon without their basic form?

    Posted: 25 Aug 2020 02:13 AM PDT

New player here, I've noticed looking at decklists online that people run evolved Pokemon like Charizard GX without their basic forms (e.g. Charmander or Charmeleon). Running through the trainers, I can't for the life of me figure out how they get on the board... can someone enlighten me?

Need Advice for a M Mewtwo EX & Mew & Mewtwo GX deck in Expanded

    Posted: 25 Aug 2020 02:50 AM PDT

    Hi,

I haven't played that much the last year, but I used to have a Mega Mewtwo deck that was pretty fun to play with. When they released the Mewtwo & Mew GX I was told it would enhance my current deck, because I could get rid of the duplicate EX, M EX and link chain. Is there any deck list available or any advice how I could make a deck out of that?

The idea is to use M Mewtwo's attack and then Mewtwo EX for switching damage while using Mewtwo & Mew GX as the main attacker.

I realize there are probably better cards/decks by now, but I have no cards from recent collections, so I'd rather try to build something from previous collections. It's not meant to win 10 games in a row, but rather to enjoy the game.

    Beginner help

    Posted: 25 Aug 2020 02:06 AM PDT

    Hi guys,

I've started playing a few weeks ago and just been playing theme format and unlocking some theme decks for useful cards. Got gifted 2 trainer toolkit codes and a reshizard league battle deck code.

I now was thinking about transitioning to standard slowly. I've managed to unlock around 40ish tradable DAA packs.

Now with the rotation coming up very soon I've learned that ReshiZard won't be that great anymore and I was wondering if it would be a waste investing in building it.

Do you guys have recommendations on what deck to focus on to getting started with standard format?

Or should I keep farming tradable packs and tokens for now?

    Thank you in advance!

Most expensive deck: Chasing the white whale known as Eternatus may take me an eternity

    Posted: 24 Aug 2020 06:54 PM PDT

I've been able to make competitive decks online since Ultra Prism, mostly through Free-to-Play means, though I have bought some codes, online packs, and the Trainers kit. I'm trying to get the cards for the Eternatus deck, and it's scaring me. Dragapult did not need this many cards. Zacian may have been expensive on its own, but nothing around the deck ever got too carried away for what they were trading for. Pikarom before that came in little chunks, so I could prepare to gain tickets for earning booster packs through tournaments without too much hassle. Come to now and we are not talking just big basic anymore, but the VMAX that nearly doubles the V trading price. Add on top Crobat V. Funny thing, once upon a time Dedenne-GX started out at 5-6 packs. Crobat, a worse card overall, quadruples that price from the outset. I have gained 56 packs from tournaments, and from opening untradeable packs I have lucked out on 2 Crobat Vs and 2 Eternatus VMAXs. No Eternatus V yet. Adding up the current prices of having 4 of each card, I would need 106 packs total. If I were to buy deck codes at Trading Cavern I would need 50 DAA codes, or $37 worth. Holy Moly! I know I can trade for less and probably get the cards I need for under 100 packs, but idk, this is so much more expensive than any other deck I have ever tried to build. This is a long rant, but I am curious how other people are faring in their chase for the Eternatus VMAX deck that many are having a great time playing on PTCGO.

If I'm going to purchase packs, should I try Rebel Clash or Darkness Ablaze?

    Posted: 24 Aug 2020 05:59 PM PDT

Found myself considering getting a few packs both for online and to play with my younger sister, but I'm kind of torn on which set to go for. What kinds of cards/decks do the sets tend to lean toward? Either seem viable for some sort of sealed/draft game?
