    Posted: 21 Feb 2021 06:51 AM PST

    Hello there

I just downloaded the game and started playing. I am just wondering what are some of the best theme decks you can use? I looked at the shop and there are so many I don't even know where to start. Any suggestions or help it appreciated! thanks

    Advice on Glimwood Deck

    Posted: 21 Feb 2021 03:12 AM PST

I'll preface this by saying I know this is never going to be a top tier deck. I'm not expecting to win tournaments or anything. There's too much luck involved for that. It's just a 1 prize type deck that can be quite fun to play with. I find my only problem is sometimes I will either come stuck through not being able to draw basics or occasionally will hit an energy drought.

    Where to go from here?

    Posted: 21 Feb 2021 06:11 AM PST

So I've been playing for a couple of days. Got the Enti theme deck and did very well in the theme format. I eventually got some pretty good cards and used the theme deck as a base to make my own mono-fire deck. Now I'm playing mostly expanded and having a great time. But I have hit 500 tokens again and don't know what to spend them on. Boosters? Theme decks? I want to continue to make the deck I'm using better and better so any advice to get good fire card would be great. Thanks!

Does it makes sense to start building a Pikakrom now?

    Posted: 20 Feb 2021 05:07 PM PST

I just want to start my first deck build , and the pikakrom looks so good to me, Just because this is gonna need a lot of effort, I was wondering if it's still worth to build it now (just to have fun) or because it's been around for a long time you guys think a new powerful and "mainstream" deck could be right behind the door?

Reasons why ADP is ruining Standard format

    Posted: 20 Feb 2021 01:23 PM PST

Reasons why ADP is ruining Standard format, ranked approximately from worst to least worst:

    1. Most of the time when ADP loses it's because they had bad luck. If you win against ADP it's rarely because of pure skill. They either need to not find the energy for ADP by turn 2 or 3 and/or have absolutely terrible luck setting up their other attackers throughout the rest of the game.
    2. Even when you do try to put some effort into disrupting ADP by playing a Reset Stamp or Marnie at the right time, or playing a smart Boss's Orders, ADP decks will almost definitely play out of it. Every respectable ADP deck plays 4 Boss's Orders of their own and at least 3 Switches. And I know every meta deck already plays at least 3 Switches, but ADP is one of the only decks that always plays 4 Boss's Orders because of the insane amount of mileage they get from that card. Another point to consider is that while all other decks get mileage off of Boss's Orders, ADP is the only one that gets a distinct advantage from this card during every phase of the game: early, mid, and especially end game.
    3. ADP's reign causes skilled players to spew toxicity. Many skilled PTCG players, also many Youtubers, say the most toxic things in defense of ADP. "ADP is fair because it gives you 3 prizes if you knock it out." (I will address this specific one further below.) "Whenever you lose against ADP ask yourself if you could have played differently." "Uhmmm... I win against ADP, I don't know what you're talking about." These rebuttals seek to place blame on the player, when really it's ADP that's broken and ruining the format. None of these rebuttals are valid, and as I said above, it's near impossible to win against ADP unless the ADP player has terrible luck setting up or during mid/end game. If not, show me a game where a player wins against ADP without the ADP player having awful luck. Show me a game won against a decent ADP by what could be said or almost said to be "pure skill". I am ready to be proven wrong. I am willing to be flexible.
    4. "ADP is fair because it gives you 3 prizes if you knock it out." Flawed reasoning. This reasoning ignores the collateral effect of ADP's GX attack. If ADP really is fair after all because it gives out 3 prizes, then why is it that ADP is the main card guarding the meta from more single prize decks? Every single prize deck becomes automatically unplayable. Blacephalon being the exception. But is it really? It does hit for weakness against Zacian, meaning they have a distinct advantage on ADP's mid to late game. Skilled players don't want to experiment with single prize decks seriously because they know they'll get obliterated by ADP. Otherwise, we may already have a few more single prize decks in the format. Personally, I've played a lot of Decigoons and ADP's GX attack wrecks me not so much because of the extra prize card (although yes!), but because their Aegislash V gets to one-shot my birds before I even get the chance to see if I can outplay them.* So, one of the only other viable single prize deck in the format loses due to the extra 30 damage activated by ADP's GX attack.* Decigoons can indeed knock out an Aegislash through smartly played Tool Scrappers, Goons, Boss's Orders and Decidueye's bench damage. It takes a few turns, but none of it matters if my opponent already has 4 prize cards left and is ready to one-shot my Decidueyes. Perhaps Decigoons can take out Aegislash, but the stars and planets must align in your favor.
    5. This reason is perhaps a bit weak... but ADP already feels like a card that should belong in a long gone format. A Dragon-type Tag Team with effectively no Weakness in the current meta? What was PTCG thinking? Weakness is one of the main ways balance is brought to the meta. Discontinuing fairy type was unhealthy for the format. If only there were a viable fairy attacker, our meta would look inmensely different.

In conclusion, ADP is broken, it's ruining Standard format, and you shouldn't blame the losing player. You should admit that if you ever do win against ADP (and not to say you're not a skillful player) the wind was probably blowing in your favor. I admit that my own victories against ADP were mostly because of the other player's bad luck. When ADP leaves, the format will be much more enjoyable for all.

    SF value

    Posted: 20 Feb 2021 03:48 PM PST

I'm fairly new to the game started playing again just after Viv released. Will the value of SF drop over time or is it going to stay as high as it is. Currently holding onto a Crobat V and Gold eternatus VMAX which can trade for only like 3 to 4 SF.
